Hello, dears! This weekend marks my eighth blogging anniversary! Eight years ago (actually yesterday–February fourth) I started a little blog on Live Journal chronicling my adventures in historic costuming. Things grew from there, and after a couple moves to other blogging services and a little bit of expansion of blogging topics, somehow eight years passed! However, I still feel like a new blogger most days–it’s evolved so much in the blog world in eight years–sometimes it’s hard to keep up with it all!

I know I say this fairly often, but I wanted to reiterate it: thank you all for your support, interest, emails, comments and inspiration these past years. Whether you’re new to Elegant Musings or have known me since before my LJ days on various sewing and costuming message boards, thank you for sticking around and following my ramblings. It is truly humbling to know that others do read this blog and are just as excited about some of the things I’m interested in and share. I feel like we’ve built such a great community here of inspiring, caring and helpful individuals! Thank you!

How is your weekend? My sister is here to pay a visit this weekend, and so it’s been full of lots of laughter, trips to the library (yes, we are fairly nerdy around here about books and libraries), homemade pizza, and enjoying the pretty weather. I feel really blessed that my sister and I are so close, as it wasn’t always that way. But especially after the past six months where life seems to have been throwing SH and I a lot of stressful and unexpected stuff, it’s nice to have a sister to lean on and who can listen when I’ve just needed to pour my frustrations and sorrows out. (And I can do the same for her.) Thank you, sis–you’re the best!

Hello! How has your weekend been? Doing anything creative or just enjoying a quiet couple of days to catch up on things? It’s been relatively calm and a bit lazy at times for me… Some knitting has been done, finishing up a book on the history of eating in America (Revolution at the Table: The Transformation of the American Diet by Harvey Levenstein for those interested), and lots of good conversations with the people around me. Just how a chilly January weekend should be…

Thank you for all your great name suggestions for my new dressform on Friday’s post! Now I just have to decide what to choose… So many appealing names!

I’ve been working on making and fitting a dress muslin this weekend–it’s one of the dresses I showed you in last week’s pattern inspiration post (though not the popular bow dress–that one is a bit too fancy for my closet right now!). I’m really excited, though of course there are bugs that need to be worked out! So it’s back to the sewing machine for me! Hope you are having a lovely, creative weekend too!

Hello! I hope you all have been having a lovely start to the New Year. We got back earlier in the week from visiting family over the holidays (so much easier now that we’re only a few hours instead of 12+ away!), and I’ve been busy getting things going smoothly again. It’s always odd after a move to get back into a “routine”–especially when you have to remember where half the things you unpacked are! (The kitchen is most frustrating–especially when it’s first thing in the morning! lol.)

Now that we’re back I’m starting to plan out my weekly posting schedule. Thank you all so much for hanging in there with my lack of consistent posts over the past couple months! The only ongoing hiccup is that my laptop has died (the one I got back in May! I am not happy about that…), and am using an old one my sister has sweetly loaned me for the interim. So things probably won’t be as prettily formatted as in the past–but hopefully that won’t deter!
