Hello, my friends!!! How did your weekends go? I am just delighted with the help and suggestions you have been emailing me about budget and diy weddings. L. and I have gotten some great ideas! Best yet, it looks like we might have a lovely church and reception spot, but nothing definite yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! hehe.

Sara over at Sadie Olive invited me to the week of red photographs! Since red is one of my favorite colors (blue is second… I think–it changes so often!), I thought it would be a fun to post a week of photos with red in them. Do visit the I Saw Red to see more red-photo goodness!

My photo for today is a little set of tin dishes that my sister bought last Friday when we dropped in an antique store. They were so adorable, that I think if she hadn’t purchased them, I would have! I also took a few other pictures while we were out and about… it was such a pretty day I couldn’t resist stopping every few minutes to capture the day.
This week I’ve decided to continue with the 1940’s theme for this week’s Vintage Monday feature! I have lately been obsessing again with the look of the era, especially since I picked up the cutest black and white, high waist shorts that just scream mid-century. hehe! I hope you enjoy this fun image…

Hope you’re all having a splendid Monday!

I’m quickly poking my head in to say a big thank you to your dear comments about my dress, as well as the exam well-wishes!!! I have one more review before Spring Break “officially” starts, but otherwise, I think the most worrisome part is over. Though my hand still is sore from handwriting Tuesday’s Design History midterm that consisted of twelve pages of essay questions. Oh my!
I had grand plans to show you another sewing project I’m working on, or perhaps a wee peek at the backlog of thrifted treasures from the past month. But alas, my schedule is quite full this beautiful, sunny morning! So those will have to wait until later. Here is what my day is looking like:
to do
+ work out
+ answer “business” emails
+ work on graphic design commissions
+ answer comments? *fingers crossed*
+ clean studio space (really needs to be done! lol!)
+ scan new images for VM features
+ catch up on blog reading
+ work on blog commission
I hope you all are having a lovely day! I am enjoying this beautiful, spring-like weather we’ve been treated to in the Mid Atlantic! *dances* I managed to sneak out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon and snap some photos of the sun-filled towns nearby. Hooray!!!
Cheers!

[ Emily’s news about Martha Stewart?! I can’t wait for that episode to air!!!

There are so many posts and things I want to say right now. They’re all frightfully jumbled in my head; and lately I’ve noticed I “mentally dictate” the best ones when I’m not near my computer! Not only do my best, creative project ideas come when I’m in the shower–but so does writing! Alas, I think the water must get in my ears and wash away the thoughts in my head… because the inspired words are usually gone when I sit down to write. *sigh*
All that to say I’m keeping this post shortish because I’m in the midst of a graphic design commission! I’m so excited about the project, but right now it’s quite under wraps… I’ll let you all know once its finished. Right now its off to “work” (quite delightfully fun work though!) for me, so here is the list of Inspiration Friday links!!
♥ inspiration [ twenty-three ] ♥
♥ a beautiful example of when minimalist art inspires fashion
♥ gala’s list of jobs for the “creative soul”
♥ a pretty idea for a camera cozy!
♥ tips on interfacing for sewing projects fearlessly
♥ I so want to knit a scarf entirely of this pattern… [ via ]
♥ I plan on making at least a couple of these to take when shopping!
♥ old bits and bobs remade into a stunning accessory
♥ sarai’s vintage pattern directory–hooray!! [ via ]
♥ a quick and clever ironing board cover! [ via ]
I will hopefully return late this weekend with something of more interest to show or discuss (perhaps I’ll serendipitously be in front of my computer when an inspired post idea hits?!). Have a lovely weekend, my dears!!
Cheers & Creativity,
♥ Casey [ email me ]

Shortly after my mom’s father passed away several years ago, we were cleaning out the basement of my grandparent’s house as we were helping move my grandmother out. As we went through the piles of papers and boxes of who-knows-what, we stumbled across Pop’s photography equipment. Although my mom had told me over the years that he had been interested in photography at had bought several cameras, I had never really thought much of it because that was before my time. We brought the box home and I had never taken the time to investigate it until recently when I was researching purchasing a Holga.

So I rescued the heavy box from the confines of the basement and started to dig through it. I found three cameras: one small camera, one huge, professional-quality one (I’ve dubbed it the “Monster”; it must weigh about 15lbs!), and another, older camera that looks like it was unfortunately damaged by a fire they had in their house at one point. Both the cameras that are in good condition are of Japanese manufacture, and the Monster has a ton of accessories: filters, a zoom lens, tripod (which I’ve used a lot with my digital–whatever works, right?), a Polaroid film adapter… Its kind of mind-boggling. Thankfully the user-guide is still with it and makes it a little less scary to approach. So all I’ve got to do is buy some film and start shooting.
I’m really looking forward to playing with my new toys. I feel like I’m finding a shared interest with Pop and connecting with him, even though he’s no longer here. I can’t help but think that I inherited my sense of artistic aesthetic and love of photography from him. So thanks Pop…
