Thank you so much for the red hair love on Friday’s post! I am still getting used to it, but think I might keep it up for the next few months at the least… How is your weekend going? I’ve been spending a good deal of time revisiting a certain sewing project this weekend, as well as writing an outline for that sew-along (look for a post on that sometime next week). After a few weeks away from my sewing machine, it’s nice to get back to actually sewing in my free time (instead of daydreaming about it!)–I didn’t realize I missed it so much during this break!

I also wanted to let you know that I set up a Facebook page for Elegant Musings this week too. It’s something I’ve been going back and forth on for some time now. You see, I have a rather love/hate relationship with Facebook. But I know a lot of people use it and figured it might be a great way to add some more interaction to the blog. For right now, it’s purely a trial to see if I keep up with it (I have a bad record with Facebook! lol), but if you’d like, feel free to add the page to your favorites. And now, without further ado and blathering on about my stuff, here are some links for you!

  • This whole wheat molasses bread sounds like the perfect accompaniment to a bowl of winter soup…
  • I just got a camera bag for Christmas, but I really adore this diy bag idea!
  • A messy, artsy hairdo tutorial, livened up with a bit of yarn.
  • Beautiful calender from Creature Comforts for you to print!
  • A post on Colette Patterns blog about one of my favorite mid-century designers: Charles James
  • I recently added this lovely blog to my feed reader and been thoroughly enjoying it!

And now, I’m back to some sewing… Hope you’re having a lovely weekend too!

How is your weekend going? I wish I could say mine was going splendidly… but I seem to be feeling a bit under the weather. Augh! At least I have gotten the Christmas gifts wrapped and some sewing done. But otherwise all I want to do is curl up on the sofa and snooze… Not quite the super-productive weekend I had planned. But what is that saying about the best laid plans? lol.

A quick little housekeeping note as well… Firstly I added a subscribe by email feature to the blog. So if you don’t use a feedreader, but want to be notified of new posts, you can now get them delivered to you by email! Finally, which you may have already noticed, I compiled a page with links to all the tutorials I’ve posted–including beauty tutorials. So they’re all in one spot now! I also plan on updating the links page this week–my apologies to those who have been patiently waiting to be added there, but hopefully that will get done in the next couple days.

And now, I think perhaps I will go curl up on the sofa for a bit… Although I really was hoping to decorate the sugar cookies today. We shall see about that! Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

Just a quick little note to say “hello!” along with this post. I’m in the middle of a lazy afternoon of sewing and trying to wrap my head around a new construction method. I always love learning new ways of putting together classic pieces, and the particular method I’m using for lining a vented pencil skirt is really intriguing (courtesy of an article in Threads #150). Hopefully I’ll either have a progress report or (fingers crossed) a finished piece to show this week!

  • I love this Scandinavian inspired star garland–I think it would look lovely after the holidays too, don’t you?
  • Johanna’s 18th century-inspired bedroom is absolutely gorgeous!
  • Some great tips on cookie decorating success from Sweetopia.
  • I’m inching closer to making my own 40s style jeans, and the NVL’s post on denim couldn’t have been more timely!
  • A roundup of fantastic tips on sewing Chantilly lace from Gertie.
  • Theresa has been doing a virtual advent calender for December–and she’s posted some really neat “gifts”!

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend too! As with the previous couple weeks, please feel free to include links that you might think others would find interesting below!

I hope you’ve visited Grosgrain blog recently? Kathleen has been doing a fantastic series of sweater refashions, taking humble thrift store finds and transforming them into Anthropologie-worthy pieces. She’s been documenting how she remakes each one–which has got me itching to do some sweater refashions! My sketchbook has been bursting with ideas thanks to her tutorials, and I’ve been trying to find some new pieces at the thrift shops to chop up and remake. Kathleen contacted me recently to do a guest blog for the series and asked if I’d like to contribute my fur collar tutorial. I jumped at the chance of course! Be sure to stop by for a little interview with me and check out the rest of Kathleen’s Embellish Month tutorials (and the rest of her inspiring blog). Thank you again, Kathleen for featuring me–I’m so tickled to be included!

Hello, friends! I hope you have had a lovely weekend’ and if you’re in the US, a nice Thanksgiving holiday. Things have quieted down a bit here, but I have a lot to catch up on right now–most importantly the winner of the fur collar giveaway! To find out if it’s you, be sure to scroll down below…

  • I love this simple idea for decorated chalkboards from Creature Comforts.
  • Lauren at Wearing History shared some fantastic tips on how she organizes and stores her vintage patterns.
  • These jar cozies how-to’s from Dottie Angel are just too sweet!
  • Judy posted some gorgeous images of evening gowns from 1925, 1935 and 1945.
  • Whip up a quick-to-make and eye-catching tie scarf!
  • Lauren of Dear Golden shared an array of vintage collars that are fantastic inspiration!
  • Denise emailed me about a fantastic giveaway she’s hosting on her blog, Blue Gardenia, right now!

Now for the winner of the giveaway. Firstly, I’d like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your lovely comments about the tutorial–I’m so delighted that it struck a cord with you! It has really encouraged me to stop slacking with all the tutorial ideas floating through my head and publish them here. Can’t promise anything too exciting before January, but I do hope to start adding more in the near future (along with more regular giveaways)! The winner of the faux fur collar is…

Congratulations, Corinne! I’ll be emailing you shortly so I can send you the package.

I hope you have a lovely rest-of-the-weekend! I have to admit, after the busy holiday and having guests over for a week, I suspect I shall spend the rest of my weekend curled up on the sofa with my knitting. It is also just chilly enough out this morning for me to feel like it’s fall, so I’m feeling decidedly lazy right now–which may be a good thing to rest up before the Christmas madness begins! hehe!

Did you spot the new feature on the links roundup last week? I would love for you to contribute either a link from your own blog or one you’ve run across in the past week that you think others might find interesting! (As before, the usual rules apply to submitting links within good taste, etc.)
