outfit: a touch of green

dress: made by me | belt: thrifted | shoes: ASOS | handbag: estate sale | scarf: thrifted | earrings: thrifted | brooch: antique fair

I did a double take the other morning when I checked the weather forecast and saw it was going to be in the range of 85°F–just over the weekend I had been chilly and wearing my wool sweaters. I know I talk about it insistently, but this oddball weather has me all mixed up! lol.

I haven’t shown this dress on the ol’ blog since I made it nearly a year ago–despite it being one of my favorite summer frocks and getting a ton of wear last year! Plus I made it a bit big, which is a plus right now since someone has been at the sweets a bit too much. *ahem* It was perfect for the weather the day I wore it–until Maverick got into a mess and got it all over me. Ah, the joys of having a hyper puppy… At least it’s washable! lol.

(I think I was incapable of being serious the day I took these… lol.) I added a few touches of green with the accessories for this outfit. I wanted to carry a green handbag Gina sweetly sent me last year, but it was packed away deep in the spare room closet and I was too lazy to get it out. So the trusty telephone cord bag did the job! But I think a little green bag would look cute with this dress–I need to remember to pull it out next time I go rooting around.

I hope y’all are having a splendid mid-week! I have a fun post for you on Friday, so be sure to stop by to take a peek Friday morning!

Oh Casey, that who look just makes your face pop! With the green and the coral lipstick and awesome hair. What a fun outfit.

It’s supposed to get warm here today, but it’s been so dreary and rainy! I’m still pretty much wearing light winter/early spring clothing. Argh.

What a wonderful dress! I love how you changed the look a bit with the accessories.
Puppy messes and light colours are not fun – glad to hear it is washable! I’ve had a couple puppy mishaps with some of my favourite pieces, and it definitely makes me think out the ease of fixing and washing items.

I do love this dress! Green really is the perfect accent color to use with your accessories. I would love to see some more outfit posts (even though you have been doing more of them lately). They are an excellent source of inspiration.

What a delightful hairstyle – the two separate points of height are instantly eye-catching, fun, and very pretty.

Wishing you a gorgeous Wednesday,

So lovely and so very spring-y!! And your hair looks amazing.
Our weather has been wild too— freezing cold and snowing one day, then broiling the next! It does make dressing quite frustrating, haha.

HeHe! I love your funny face. It says a 1000 words. I remember this dress, I think it was made from sheets. I remember that you had done the lining so prefect and I was wondering if my skills would ever be that good. You inspire me to sew better everyday and I am glad you share with us all your creations. The green purse would be great. You look Fab!

I’m in love with the whole look, but most of all I pray that a hair tutorial is in our future. That hair is just too cute and summer for words.

Your pictures are so cute. Cute dress.

We’ve been having that crazy weather, too. But I think the heat is here to stay now.

Yay, love this dress! As Marie-Eve says above, after watching a couple of your latest videos I’ve noticed that you have some facial expressions that are very similar to Jessica Pare (Megan Draper) on Mad Men. I think especially your eyebrows and vintage-y makeup really add to that similarity.

Casey, these are adorable! I am doing a 1930s-1940s Broadway show at my middle school, and all of my students are now obsessed with vintage hair and makeup (which I proudly sport at my middle school that I teach at!), and they wanted to know how to do it for the show. Since I didn’t have time to do a hair and makeup session, I sent them to your blog and Youtube channel. You are helping me out, and didn’t even know it! Thank you for being so wonderful–I love reading this, and I have a feeling so will my little girls. :)

Super cute! I’m looking at doing a project with those pivoted darts sometime – it creates an interesting effect.

Cute as always, but your hair! It’s totally off the charts awesome. I don’t think I could ever pull it off with my face shape, but I would LOVE to know how it’s done (just in case…).x
