Only one week left! I have to admit that as fun as this whole experience has proved to be, having to take daily outfit photos (which I have never been consistent about prior to this) has started to become a bit of a “chore” (if I dare call it that). Not because I don’t enjoy this project, but I forget when things get busy. Like Saturday: it completely slipped my mind again (somehow I’m starting to think it’s a Saturday problem? lol.) and then became a moot point when I got a killer headache and threw over picture taking for a couple of Tylenol and a nap. I am partly hoping that upon completion of the 30 for 30 project I’ll be better about documenting outfits on a weekly (not daily! lol.) basis, but I’m also really looking forward to not having on my “must do this today!” list. Or maybe I’m just being cranky because I’m starting to look longingly at the rest of my clothes that I currently can’t wear… lol.

40s vintage dress: antique store | bow belt: estate sale | crochet purse: inherited from my great grandmother | shoes: Remix “Rita” pumps | necklace: vintage sweater guard & lace | bangles: Forever 21
Day Nineteen: This was the outfit I wore Wednesday evening when SH and I had a last-minute date. This dress has a bit of a fun story behind it. When I originally unearthed this 1940s beauty at an antique dealer’s shop (who was going out of business), it was much longer and had quite a few holes in the lower portion of the skirt. I suspect it dated to the mid 40s, judging by the narrow shape and wide shoulders (though pads were strangely absent from the dress). It also has a matching jacket which I also still have. But the holes in the hem meant it needed a little TLC and rehemming. I shortened it to day dress length and had a new dress! I love wearing it, and probably don’t pull it out often enough. Mostly because I don’t want it to fall to pieces if it can be helped. Plus who wouldn’t love the flirty little peplum ruffle on the back?! Also, the “necklace” is really one of those vintage sweater guards that I just clipped to a piece of lace for an instant necklace! I think it would work superbly with the sort that has more of a brooch on either end, as mine is just a plain rhinestone chain, but it was still a neat way to use a sweater guard when not wearing a cardigan!
blouse: antique nightgown | 30s slacks: made by me | print handbag: vintage | belt: thrifted | necklaces: made by me & vintage | bracelet: vintage | shoes: Steve Madden
Day 20: Honestly I feel like this is a bit of a ho-hum outfit. Inspired by some similar looks in old Anthropologie catalogs, I tried this out. Wearing a blousey top and wide pants is not a look I usually try, but I thought I would go out on a limb for a day. It’s just not me; I rarely wear outfits that have no figure definition, and this just looks like too much fabric to me. Still, it was fun to try a look that I normally shy away from–even just once! (So it’s not a total mistake!)

tropical shirt: thrifted | 40s nautical shorts: made by me | saddle shoes: Muffy’s | handbag: Nine West | bracelet: vintage | earrings: J Paul Getty Museum
Day 21: Back to the 40s again! Friday’s look was for dealing with a few things that required comfortable walking shoes and dressing for the nearly 90-degree heat. I really felt like going all-out with this look: from the saddle shoes to the rolled bangs! Got a lot of questions about this outfit from people, and I think I’ve found a new favorite hot-weather outfit! Also you can’t see it in the photos, but I was sporting polka dot nails on Friday. For some reason I was seized with the idea of doing something other than my usual solid-color nails and added some fun (albeit uneven) white dots atop the red. Fun!

linen top: thrifted | skirt: Anthropologie | belt: thrifted | leopard clutch: made by me | necklace: H&M | earrings: Target | bird brooch: vintage | bracelet: vintage | shoes: Steve Madden
Day 22: Easter Sunday was spent mostly sewing. Which was nice because I hadn’t spent much time the past week with the pile of projects that have somehow taken over my sewing nook! I really just wanted a simple, comfortable outfit (especially since I had another massive headache–it’s the weather!), mostly neutral but with a pop of pattern. Obviously I like the leopard print purse and skirt together, since this is the second time they’ve met up! I am also realizing that I need to add more earrings into my jewelry collection; I am getting tired of rotating the same 6 or 7 pairs over and over. I have plenty of other things like necklaces and bracelets, but not enough earrings!
Missed previous outfits? Be sure to catch up with posts #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5! As always, more photos have been uploaded to my Flickr page.

I *want* that skirt in the top pictures! What kind of fabric is it made of?
The entire dress is rayon, although the skirt portion is lighter weight than the blouse.

That top dress is incredible! I love the back of the skirt! Sorry to hear it becoming a chore. If it is worth anything – it has been a lot of fun to see your outfits on a more frequent basis, and fun to see how you remix a few items!
Oh dear… I didn’t mean to sound like I was really complaining! I just mean it’s becoming one of those things that I have to triple check to make sure I do before the day finishes. I tend to get a bit absent minded sometimes about things.
lol.

I love your warm weather outfit!

I must really look through my 1940s crochet handbag patterns because the silhouette of your grandmother’s looks really familiar. Also the dress with the missing shoulder pads…did you put them back in? I love fixing old dresses if there isn’t too much work to be done.
I’ve seen some similar patterns elsewhere–I’m sure you have something!
I decided not to put the shoulder pads back in. Sometime I do this with certain silhouettes, but since the shoulder line was already wide enough on my shoulders, I felt it was fine. Plus, I think it originally did not have shoulder pads; although the jacket that came with it does.

Love this set of outfits! Very cute! You might try taking a magic eraser to those scuffed saddle shoes. I used one on Hubby’s white sambas and on his dress corframs for the Navy and it works like a charm!
Thanks for the reminder about the Magic Eraser! I always forget about that…
I’ve been trying to really break in the saddle shoes (they’re still awfully stiff), but the scuffs are starting to annoy me. hehe!
♥ Casey
I love the shoes! All your outfits are fun and unexpected!
Whew, those Remix pumps are stunners!
Your faux bang look is just darling! And I just love everything – head to toe – in the first photo
I y get so excited at the beginning of a challenge. I understand how one gets bogged down in spite of the fact that you still want to complete it. Life gets in the way, so to speak. I have totally enjoyed your posts and enjoy seeing how you style different outfits. I am considering Zo’s June Me Made challenge. We will see. As soon as I think I have all my ducks in a row for something like that, one of them goes and flies away…………… I get all befuddled.
Yeah, I think I’ve hit that “bogged down” point in this challenge!
hehe. Plus things have been rather crazy over the past month, and my enthusiasm has probably been dampened a bit by that.
I’m the same way with getting all my ducks in a row!
hehe. It never quite works out as planned…

Lovely again!
Gorgeous — all of them. And your hair on day 20 is anything but ho-hum! I’m new to your blog/channel, so can you link me to a tutorial on how to do that style? Thanks!
Thank you!
I honestly just winged that hairstyle for day 20. I’ll keep it in mind for a tutorial though! I think if I tweak it, I might get it to look a bit more Edwardian and be able to do a video for that…
♥ Casey
The crochet purse is lovely!
And I love your 1930′s white slacks. I’m now somehow fascinated by 1930s and 1940s trousers. I must buy one soon.
and the saddle shoes are so nice!! are these the ones you got from your husband? They are wonderful!
Thank you, Blanka!
Yep, those are the Christmas saddle shoes that my husband got me. I utterly adore them–though I’m still breaking the leather in (it’s so stiff–but in a good, “these shoes will last forever” way!
.

Love, Love, LOVE! Those slacks! What pattern did you use to make them and can I find it. I have been dying to find a similar pattern. I adore wide leg/trouser cut jeans and slacks.
Thank you, Rachel! You can read more about that project here.

More gorgeous outfits Casey, my favourite is the second one, love your hair here! Gotta get some saddle shoes!
Emma x
I can understand how you don’t feel like the second outfit is totally “you”, but nonetheless it’s totally awesome and my favorite of the bunch! I LOVE that repurposed-nightgown blouse, and your hair rocks the house. And great job on all the handmade stuff! Very inspiring!
Aw, thank you Lisa!
I really liked trying a look that wasn’t totally “me”, but kind of challenged my perception of what I could wear silhouette-wise!
♥ Casey
I love how much you do with your hair! It puts my quick brush and leaving it down all the time to shame!
I LOVE your hair in outfit 20. Gorgeous! How do you do it?
Thank you!
I honestly just winged it as I went along! I’m going to try to perfect the technique a bit and see about recording a video tutorial.

Hope you and SH had a great Easter Casey
.
. You’ve done so well at this challenge. It’s probably going to feel really strange when you have access to your whole wardrobe again- you’ll be like a kid in a candy store! Heehee
That dress that you altered is gorgeous- so pretty and classy (I love it). And Fridays outfit with the shorts is adorable. The whole outfit down to your hair and makeup is fabulous
I know–I’m already slightly panicky at the thought of having lots of garment choices again! hehe (Well, not really panicky–overwhelmed maybe? I have to say having fewer choices has made putting together outfits a bit easier!)
We did have a nice Easter, thank you!
Albeit a very quiet one, but just the sort I like.
♥ Casey
I actually really like the second look although it looks not that much like you. Fashion is fun and so we should try out things we haven’t worn before. I’m in love with that skirt from anthropologie, that pattern is just gorgeous!
Exactly!
I thought I’d push the envelope a little and try something rather “out there” for me silhouette-wise. It was fun to at least dip my toes into a look that I haven’t done before.
♥ Casey
I adore all of these outfits! You always look so nice. I tend to feel the same way about wide pants and loose tops, but you look really cute in that outfit. I really love those Steve Madden wedges too. Too cute!
Hi Casey,
Thank you for taking the time -I really enjoyed looking at your daily outfits. I loved them all and feel inspired to make a little more effort with my own. I think you look fantastic on day 20 but I’m used to wearing clothes on the loose side. After seeing all your lovely outfits I’m going to try putting together some outfits that are not so flowing.
That top dress is gorgeous! I also really like the way you do your hair. :3
LOL! The “ho-hum” outfit that you didn’t like has been my favorite one of all! I think you look so fabulous in that one!
Aw, thanks Jen!
I think for me it was just a bit different than what I’m used to silhouette-wise. But it was fun to try out a look that wasn’t my usual!
♥ Casey
LOL! That “ho-hum” outfit that you didn’t like is my favorite one so far! I adore that look!
I totally love your black and blue dress! Did you have to do any adjustment to it? And the little ruffle at the back. So cute! Thanks for doing this challenge, it is so inspiring.
Other than rehemming it (and resewing the back zipper which had come loose), it fit pretty perfectly!
Which was nice; I usually have to adjust things a bit before I can wear them.
♥ Casey
I love your day 20 ho-hum outfit! It’s my favorite of them; you look so elegant and sophisticated- very Coco Chanel!
Oh do I LOVE that first dress. I’m a sucker for a peplum.
oh the black bag on top was just amazing, youre so lucky, woman!
the hairstyles stand out much more than the outfits, but they make the outfits look so much nicer than they are but they are even great too. Hope that all made sense.
Oh, Casey, I adore the little peplum on the bum of that top dress! I’m already dreaming of putting one on my next pencil skirt…
Arya
Wow I LOVE those Muffys shoes! I’ve been trying to find shoes like those to wear with with 40/50′s style outfits since I was in high school! Thanx so much for the post
