I’ve decided to postpone the Swing Dress party until next week. Partly for selfish reasons (I haven’t had time to get some photos of my dress yet!), and also because many people requested the belt tutorial before the party. Which is understandable–if you want to make a belt for the dress, you’d want to model it for the party, right? So I’m going to get that ready for Monday, and then the dress party will be next Thursday (March 17). Sorry for the back-and-forth about this, but sometimes things just have to be flexible! So look for a post next Thursday with a link form for you to add your finished dress into the mix.
I also wanted to say a big thank you for all the lovely comments on the last several posts! I haven’t had a chance to reply to all of them yet, but plan on tackling that tomorrow. Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
Even with the postponing I think I won’t have my dress ready. *sigh*
I’m glad you’re postponing it! I was hoping to finish up the last few details tonight, but the weather has been awful and I wasn’t expecting to get any decent photos tomorrow. This will take a bit of the pressure off… thanks!
Thanks Casey, my dress is done but I too, am trying to get photos and it’s been raining for days. I looking forward to the belt tutorial. Still have not found shoes for my dress, always a hard thing to find. Looking forward to Thursday, shoes or not!
Party? What party? haha. I guess I missed that one.
I just dusted off my mom’s sewing machine she gave me last year. I attempted to look at the manual (after I managed to get the threads tangled…and rolling halfway down the hall) and it’s like me trying to read Latin all over again. Maybe by the time you do something like this Swing Dress party again, I’ll actually know enough to participate.
With that said, I’m looking forward to seeing your dress!

Phew! I haven’t had a chance to photograph mine either. I swear there’s been about 5 hours of sun here in the last week! LOL
Ooo, this could mean I’ll be able to finish the dress with the fabric I posted to the Flickr group! Up until now I was just planning on finishing the little details on my wearable muslin and sharing that tomorrow. Ditto what everyone has said about the sun possibly arriving any day now for some photos
Joining the rest in thinking this is a good thing. I worked so hard the past few days to finish my dress and last night I discovered the zipper I bought was broken (after I sewed it in). So I still have some finishing to do and I’m hoping for decent weather to take some pictures outside.
I’m glad! I worked on mine a little tonight, but I’m not finished yet. Plus, it’s been rainy, so even if I had finished, I wouldn’t have pictures yet.

Thanks for postponing it – perhaps it will be sunny next Thursday for everyone to snap an outdoor photo – that would be lovely!

Sigh, I wish I had my sewing machine here in Edinburgh. It’ll be crocheting for me until we go back home to North Carolina. But THEN I’ll sew up a storm. Enjoy the party!
That sounds good to me! I’ve finished the dress, but haven’t gotten very good pics- it’s been so rainy here. Thanks for all the fantastic tutorials and flexible schedule. I’ve learned a lot and really enjoyed participating.
Oops I just read that and I’ve already published my photos. I hope I’ll get better ones before next week and maybe I’ll have the chance to make the belt too. Thanks for the tutorial, by the way!
