[ want to learn how to do this hairstyle? ]
I finally got my video successfully transferred to my computer (without having to re-record–yay!), edited and uploaded. I’m so happy I finally did this too–it’s been a long time since I’ve done a tutorial for my YouTube channel; and now that I got things figured out with my camera, it hopefully will not be the last. I have gotten a lot of comments and emails over the past month on how I did the above hairstyle. It’s an early 60s-inspired style that I came up with one weekend, and it’s become a go-to updo ever since. I promise it’s super easy–perfect for a variety of occasions and hair types! (Though it will work best with medium to long hair lengths.) I hope you enjoy this little video tutorial–do let me know if you have any questions!

oh oh. so pretty. I’m going to have to try this out tomorrow! Thanks for the tutorial
they are always great!
Casey, that’s so pretty – you look amazing! I have a Christening on Sunday so I will try this hair sytle out then. If I can get it half as good as you, I think it might become a regular look, Thank you x x
Thanks you for this tutorial!! My hair’s getting pretty long, and I’m always looking for new ways of putting it up. This is adorable.
I love your blog, by the way; “elegant” is such a perfect description.
Casey, you are lovely! I absolutely love this hair style. Unfortunately I don’t have enough hair for it, but oh my gosh you have inspired me to get creative with my hair. Thanks!
You are too cute! Thanks for the hair tips. I have long hair mostly because I don’t make the time to get it trimmed, and as it’s curly I tend to just wash it and let it air dry. This seems like a great hairstyle if I have “day-old” hair and want it off my neck!
Great tutorial Casey! It’s always great to find new and interesting ways of keeping your hair off your face that isn’t a ponytail. Keep it up!
Wonderful tutorial! Thanks again Casey!
Gorgeous! This came at the perfect time for me! I have to do my own hair for a wedding in a couple of weeks and I was wondering what I was going to do, lol. Thanks!
You’re beautiful!! Thank you for sharing
I definitely see the reddish in your hair in this video! Thank God you have thicker hair than a lot of other people who do videos. I like the little puff in the back! nice!! my mousse is neglected. you inspire me to use it again. Very pretty hairstyle.
wow, elegant and inspired as usual. if and when my hair is long enough I can’t wait to try this out, although I have bangs so will have to leave out the front part. there’s that pretty dress again
Loved the tutorial and the hairstyle. I just started growing my hair out from a super-short pixie cut. But this video is giving me the patience I’m going to need to grow it out! Thanks for posting!
Love it! So going to do this, whether I perfect those finger waves on the sides or not!! Thanks!
Bravo! This is an awesome hairstyle that I am definitely going to try! Thank you so much for sharing, it is beautiful!
wonderful tutorial casey, simple but chic
Casey all of your tutorials are a treat to watch and learn from. Can’t wait for my hair to grow to try this out! Thanks for the elegant inspiration!!
I really loved the hairstyle in that photo and have wondered how you did it. Thank you so much for tut! I actually watched it early this morning and tried it on my hair today and loved it. Got so many compliments. I have rather fine hair, but found that it worked just great for me too! Thank you!
Oh that is a very very pretty hairstyle!I just adore your tutorials!such a nice inspiration
Great tutorial! I am such an updo person; hardly ever wear it down. I will have to try this one! Thanks!
Great tutorial Casey! I will definitely have to try this one out! The only thing is my hair’s kind of layered and it tends to fly all over the place, so I can only hope I can get it as neat and perfect as yours! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Once again what a great tutorial. I will definitely be trying this tomorrow.
This was wonderful. I tried it out for a dinner tonight and I got compliments from the seating hostess to the waitress to the ticket seller at the movies.
I have really thick heavy hair as well and this was a great way to ….control it… and still look feminine (not like a schoolmarm).
Thanks!
I really like it! It seems so easy to do! I’m very sad to have my hair to short to try it. Do you have some ideas for 50′s or early 60′s hairstyle for those who have middle length hair (at the soulders)?
Thanks!
I always love your tutorials and your ability to pull off hairstyles from every era!
I tried this today and it’s so easy and so pretty! I love your little trick for doing the chignon – it’s quick but looks so polished. Thanks for the tutorial!
ooh Casey, you’re easily as beautiful as the old 50′s Hollywood screen sirens. A cute tutorial, can’t wait to try it.
Excellent tutorial! Thank you for making this. I am looking forward to when my hair is long enough to try it out, I think it will take another 2 or 3 inches. Hmm, that’ll take a while, but I’m looking forward to it nonetheless! And, by the way, how gorgeous are you!?
Love the video tutorial!
phenomenal as always
(its about time)
Great hairstyle and practical yet feminine! I love your tutorials and will try this one out immediately!
Thank you very much!

Oh lady that hair style is perfection. I cannot wait to do that to my hair this week.
Casey,
I have watched your videos off and on over the last couple years. I come back and rewatch the Girl Next Door tutorial often. Could you tell us what the music is in some of your videos? I find it lovely but don’t really know who it is or where to look. I appreciate it!
Gabriel
You did a great job. Your hair is so thick.
I live in Detroit so naturally the weather here is quite unpredictable. I woke up one morning expecting nice fall weather, but it turned out to be cool and rainy. My hair frizzes really easy, and this hairstyle was so unbelievably quick and easy, and held all day, despite my stick straight hair. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Eeep! I love that dress!
And Your tutorial is wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing it! You always look so polished and put together!
You’ve inspired me to put my hair up nicely for the first time in many many years. I’m wearing it right now, with a bright green dress from a 1961 pattern! Mine doesn’t look anywhere near as good as yours but I’m still very pleased with the results – perfect finishing touch for my outfit. Thanks!
Hi Casey
I love this tutorial. I’m definitely going to give it a go. Fantastic!
Thanks so much for posting this! The tutorial is great; I had a go at this the other day and love the style.
How ’bout that! I’ve been doing THIS SAME hairstyle for quite a while now, and never thought it was “vintage sixties” or anything! ha
That was fantastic, Casey! I loved it! I can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing that.
I love this! So elegant…..and I adore your earrings too! Good earrings are so hard to find!
Casey, I just got around to watching this video! I actually had to watch it without sound. It felt pretty clear! You are amazing! Can’t wait to watch it again with sound and learn even more.
