Though the weather is far from appropriate (or maybe it’s just my outfit that isn’t?), I was suddenly struck with the desire to pull out my jeans last weekend. Now, this is highly unusual: not only am I decidedly more of a skirt-type, but I also rather hate my sole pair of jeans (2+ years old and in sad need of replacement. Yes, I’m planning on just making or buying a pair of 40s/50s style jeans this fall!) which also happen to be skinny jeans (quite possibly my least-favorite style. Don’t ask me why I bought them–I think I was desperate and these were the only ones that remotely fit my curvy backside at the time.). But, aside from that, I really wanted to go around Saturday with my jeans rolled and wearing the tropical shirt I thrifted earlier this summer. Some kind of pseudo-rockabilly/1950s look, I guess (also unusual for me–hmm… do we sense a pattern?), I think it can be attributed to watching this adorable video that Rachel posted. Anyway, it turned out to be an incredibly comfortable outfit–and I ended up wearing it *ahem* three days in a row (though I switched the shirt out). Oddly enough, it also prompted a large number of people to ask whether I was a model? Which was a bit mystifying, seeing as I do not have model proportions (don’t let the photos fool ya!), but I can only attribute their reactions to the coolness of the faux bang and headscarf–obviously it blinds people with it’s awesomeness. haha!

[ being silly! more pictures here, if you'd like to look. ]
Hope you all are having a lovely Tuesday! I’m planning on uploading the circle skirt instructions I mentioned a couple weeks ago tomorrow, so stay tuned…

cute, cute, cute!
Mom
Casey, even if you’re not being paid for it at the moment and it’s only your own outfits, to us, you’re a model!
Can I ask what kind of camera you use?
Casey,
You are just too cute for words. I myself have a similar problem when it comes to jeans. I tried making a pair myself from a repro 40′s pattern from EvaDress. Sadly, my tailoring skills, as well as my sewing machine, were not quite up to par. I still wear them in the garden and doing yard and house work, but they are not really good enough for street wear. I do consider it a minor triumph that it only took me two tries to put in the fly front! Hope your jeans turn out better than mine (I know they will).
Cheers,
Christine
Now that how to wear jeans vintage style ~ very cute outfit! ^__^
xox,
b. of Depict This!
I just love your hair like this Casey and with the scarf it’s so adorable! The print of the blouse is so cute too!
Very, very cute outfit! I am always amazed at how you get your hairstyles! Love it! Rainy, but warm greetings from Germany
. Yours, Theresa
That’s a great look for you!
I really like this outfit! You are adorable and an inspiration. I can’t wait for the circle skirt instructions
What a lovely outfit! And I think the jeans look just fine on you – ney, they look good. So there.
What an adorable outfit! I hardly ever wear jeans, but this is making me reconsider.
are you kidding? you look so fab, no wonder people were asking! I love this look! (I also am a 50′s lover…)
That’s funny that you hate the jeans, as soon as I saw the pic, I scrolled down to check the source for the jeans/shirt. So cute. You look great!!!
Cute outfit! I love the headscarf look, too, but I can never get them to stay on, they slide right off. Do you have any tips on getting a scarf to stay put?
I love when you are being silly!! <3
Oh my, Casey!!! This style suits you SOOOOOOO well. You look just incredible (as always).
You always come up with the cutest outfits. I’m more a of skirt girl myself.
yey! i have the same shoes in red. how do you like them? They are so comfortable aren’t they???
What a great outfit!
You’re kind of making me think of Rizzo from Grease!
I know I’ve said it before but the faux bangs look awesome on you!
Hello! I actually found your blog a couple minutes ago. I was in the middle of research for our school play “Dracula: The Case of the Silver Scream” because we have to find hairstyles from the 40s. All of the cast members will be doing their own hair and makeup again (Yikes for me!), and I plan on showing all the girls your videos. We are going to be trying our best to replicate the Film Noir style in our production, and I have to say that I am VERY happy that you have been posting videos.
As for myself, I am playing one of the lead nurses (Mary Westfall), and I am looking for a cute updo style that someone as terribly unexperienced as me can do. Also, all of our hairstyles have to withstand stage combat. Meaning, we are about to go through tons of hair spray!
I’m very excited to show you off to my director and castmates! Thank you so much for making videos, and I hope to hear more from you soon! =]
Steph
Adorable outfit. You look great.
You look great in jeans! I think those look terrific but I really can’t wait to see the ’40s/’50s pair you make (or buy)–what a great idea!
Loooove it! What I like the most is that everything is very natural. I mean, you don’t look like a caricature of rockabilly, like we see maybe too often…
oh my GOSH, this outfit is cute! it’s crazy simple, but one of my favs of anything you’ve worn recently. the shirt is really awesome. I like the casual fit.
As you are on Ravelry, might My Sewing Circle not be your kind of place as well? It’s still in it’s baby stage, but it’s cosy and I quite like it. It’s a nice way to showcase all your self-made clothing. http://www.mysewingcircle.com/
