[ the newest Wearing History pattern: Smooth Sailing (also available for bust sizes 30" to 34"). ]
If you are interested in sewing vintage and spend a great deal of time (like I do!) hunting down patterns from earlier decades, you may have found how elusive some styles are to find. Half the time you have to do some size tweaking too and maybe adjust some portions for modern wear–when all you wanted to do was sew! That’s where Lauren of Wearing History comes in. She recreates and in many cases adjusts vintage styles, grades them to a variety of sizes, and prints them on quality paper for the modern sewist. She has just released a brand new pattern for 1930s sportswear trousers and blouse–wouldn’t these pieces be great for that transition period in fall? She told me she reworked the trousers to achieve a better fit and reduce some of the excess bagginess one finds in 30s trouser patterns–which means these will work great for your everyday wardrobe too! I just ordered a copy of this new pattern and can’t wait to try it!

She also sells original vintage patterns for the collector or sewer, and has a wide array of mouth watering patterns available right now. From the 1930s through the 60s and 70s–she’s got it covered! Lauren writes an informative and inspiring blog (he inspiration and scans posts are not to be missed!), also titled Wearing History. Be sure to stop by her shop and check out her latest patterns!

these are great. too bad I am still such a slow poke at getting around to sew things. If only the fabric shop was around the corner from me still like it was before it went out of business 3 years ago.
I first found Lauren’s site thanks to you, and I don’t know whether to thank you or curse you! LOL! There are so many things of hers I want to buy, and I’ve got a limited sewing budget!
When I saw this new pattern the other day, I knew this was the one I was saving my money for! Oh yes, it WILL be mine!
I just found her blog on here the other day and love it. Its so wonderful to see all these old patterns come to life! These pics are great~
Anyone who knows Lauren knows how hard she works to put these patterns out! I think she deserves extra kudos for creating patterns that have an authentic vintage *look* with a fit that is comfortable for a modern body, all without falling into the merely “vintage-esque” or “vintage-inspired” trap.
I’ve been lucky enough to try on a pair of the Smooth Sailing trousers, and they are a dream come true — Lauren and I are very different shapes and heights (I’m short and hippy, she’s tall and slender), but the same exact pair of pants looked great on both of us!
YAYAYAYYAYAYAY!!!
I know I have looked at her site before, but now since I was just saying I want to sew again, the timing could not be more perfect. xoxo
Her site is so great, and have bookmarked her etsy shop. I love this outfit too, btw.
That green and black outfit is so cute. Reminds me of the pants Betty Davis wore in some of her movies.
I have to check out that site. Thanks, Casey.
I love those pants!!!! Oh to be long waisted……….and not middle aged!
Love,
Mom
Wow! Thanks for sharing this!
I definately have to order some patterns myself…
The first picture is really amazing! It looks very authentic.
I think I have to continue sharing this on my blog…;)
I must admit, I’ve purchased so many patterns from WearingHistory, that place is like a second home to me! All of her stuff is fantastic, and she is so nice to newbie shoppers like myself (and so patient) *lol*
