This week’s images are from 1920. Lately I’ve been going through all my 20s magazines and gathering some detail inspiration and filling my sketchbook pages with ideas! I have to admit, the early 1920s are my favorite for sweet, whimsical details–especially those found on children’s clothes. Pockets, collars and embroidery details are so fun (and not just for children’s clothes either…)!

Oh my! Those 20′s children’s clothes are gorgeous! They remind me of the old illustrations in books from my childhood like the Narnia series, and E. Nesbit’s Five Children and It. I’m especially drawn to the girls fashion, but I’m also a sucker for a newsboy’s hat and tall socks on the little chaps.

Oh, the 20s…Even though the silhouette does nothing for me, I just love the look. & these illustrations capture the feeling of it perfectly.
