Whew! This weekend ended up being a non-stop baking, decorating, and holiday music-listening marathon! I enjoyed every bit of it, though (despite being tired of standing in the kitchen, icing cookies. lol!). I still have a bit more decorating to do, and now have to go through and box cookies up, but it’s truly starting to look a bit more like the holidays around here. (Not that you’d know it was almost Christmas; it’s in the 80s outside!)

I baked–I don’t know how many dozens of cookies. But they all thankfully turned out edible (yay!), and I got my cookie decorating fix for the year. lol! I put out and decorated my little feather tree, made and hung up this lovely garland, made a wreath for the door, and put up a few other decorations. I still have a lot left to do (mostly preparations for Christmas dinner), but I adore Christmas so much, it’s so exciting to have things falling into place! One of the biggest decorating things I have left is the dining room. I have plans to string up some white lights and giant “snowflake pom-poms” (I made using the infamous Martha Stewart tutorial and white tissue paper), and hopefully give the room a bit more of a “winter wonderland” look. I hope it works out! hehe!

I’m hoping to have some pictures of the decorated cookies and my gingerbread house (pretty much my second attempt at one!) in a few days… I still have to put the gingerbread house together, and I’m a little nervous about whether it’ll be successful or not. Although I adored the architectural drafting course I took years ago, working with gingerbread is a bit different than solid walls. lol!
Have a lovely Monday, dear friends!

I adore the cupcake tree decorations! And what a sweet feather tree. I’ve never seen one before.
I love love love your tree skirt!
Wow, lady!!! You have been busy. It looks pretty so far, and I can’t wait to see (literally) the cookies – and pics of the gingerbread house! At least you don’t have a cat that will lick the gingerbread house. I wonder what The Criminal would do if I made one now?????
XO
Mom
Beautiful! And I am totally going to steal your clothespins on the tinsel garland idea to hang up holiday cards.
How pretty! You are just so creative. Love everything…
How fun! I love the little cupcake on your tree!
Wishing you the best of luck with your gingerbread house! I’ve always wanted to make one, but have never plucked up the courage to do it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
look how sweet that cupcake ornament is!!!!
I bet your house is looking amazing! When do we get to see your tree?? hehe. We decided to take home one of the pre-bundled ones and once we got into the house and started cutting off the string wrapped around it, the thing just kept expanding!!!
oh! and I’m so excited to see how your giant pom poms came out! I saw the martha stewart kit at Michael’s when I was picking up some decorating supplies, I’m happy to see the tutorial online!!
It all looks so dreamy! Beautiful!
I can’t believe it’s still in the ’80s where you are! It’s in the 40s here, which is cold for the South . . I figured it’d be cold all over!
I love that you’re still in the Christmas spirit though . . . your decorations look so lovely, especially the tinsel garland!!
How fun! I have yet to decorate my home, but I’m feeling motivated to do so after reading your post!
aw wow! i can’t wait to see more pictures of all the stuff you’ve done! so far it all looks just about perfect! you’ve given Martha Stewart some stiff competition here!
good luck with the ginger bread house assembly. I used to make them when I was younger and gluing walls together with icing was never that easy….we usually had to try a few times before gettig it to stay…
i’m sure you’ll manage just fine!
Pretty!! Yesterday was cookie day for me too, I don’t think I have feet to stand on anymore!
That cupcake ornament made me giggle. Too cute!
It’s all so wonderfully festive! I absolutely love that feather tree; where did you ever find one? I’d die happy to find one of those
I can’t hardly wait to see the gingerbread house. You are so clever. A cupcake ornament? How very fitting. I’m sure your nest is trimmed and decked in everything beautiful.
Wow, from these little peaks, it looks gorgeous!
And a tip for gingerbread houses: use soup cans to hold the pieces up while the icing dries. My mom has been doing this for as long as I can remember, and it makes the process so much easier.
you have such a cute blog here:)
I bet your house looks absolutely beautiful for the festive season! I’m afraid all I have done this year is put up the Christmas cards.
Andrea xx
