12.06.09 outfit
[ current fashion inspiration: the classic 40s "sweater girl" look. sporty, but still girly and a bit sassy with the high heels! ]
- cardigan: refashioned by me
- skirt: made by me from a 40s pattern in lightweight gray wool
- shoes: madden girl
- scottie pin: made by me!
We had a chilly spell over the weekend, which meant (to my delight!) I could break out my wool cardigans and heavier skirts (I also ended up donning my new coat too. Yes, I was that cold!). This is actually one of the outfits I wore a lot up in Virginia (but kept forgetting to take pictures of!): my recently refashioned cardigan (tutorial coming later this week!) and gray wool skirt from a vintage pattern. I just love the classic combination of red and gray–it makes me smile!
What has been your favorite outfit lately? Something warm and cozy? Or perhaps you live in a part of the globe that is experiencing summertime? Do tell me was has been tantalizing you fashion-wise!

I love that colour combination! I’ve also been wearing grey recently, and also navy blue, balanced with a touch of red (necklaces, tights, scarves). I really like the layering opportunities that winter brings!

Oh, you look like pin-up perfection! Red really looks great on you and I love that skirt!
I’m definitely donning sweaters now, as well….and coats and scarves and hats. Sadly, it’s just been too cold for me to wear a fun and flirty skirt. Brrr… -

So cute! I just love your hair like that. It’s chilly here too–if I could just finish my coat I’d be cozy and warm!

I love this outfit! Red really is your color, especially with that lipstick! How long does it take you to do your hair? I still don’t think mine is quite right for any rolls, but it looks so great. I also love that you made your own Scottie pin! Oh, and the skirt. You are crafting up a storm.

You look so pretty! I too share the love of red and grey. It always looks so clean and sharp together. What a great job you did with that cardigan! And I’m enjoying seeing how you style the Madden Girl shoes, since I have them too. Lovely!

I really love your outfit! It’s very vintage-y! I wish I could get my hair styled as pretty as yours! For my winter uniform, I’ve been wearing the same heavy wool sweater but mixing it up with different dresses and tights

Wow, I am loving this outfit. You motivate me to keep exercising. You are so photogenic – pretty as a picture. I am really into red these days, can’t get enough of it. I have to confess, my favorite winter outfit is a snuggly pair of jammy pants, a cute tee, and colorful warm socks. What can I say, I’m a house mouse.
You on the other hand have glamor covered. -

Oh my, I LOVE your hair in this!
The entire outfit is just fantastic. That red is the most fantastic shade.
Cold winter outfits…..I’m a sweater set girl

You look great Casey
I live in Western Australia so I’ve been wearing a lot lately a dress my Mum made me. It’s has a slight vintage 50′s feel to it. It’s black with black and white spots on the bust. IT’s flowy around the waist and hips and made out of jersey so I’m comfortable and cool for summer. But when the real heat hits it will just be shorts and t’s cause I can’t be bothered when it’s almost 40 degree celcius (104 farenheit)

How pretty and Christmas-y! I love it. Red and grey is so nice, a little softer than the more typical red and black combination!
I’ve been really loving cream and black and wearing knee length skirts with knee length boots!

What an adorable outfit! That red cardigan is so cute and that skirt is stunning, you are one talented sewer! I just love the gray and red, definitely a great combo.
I have been loving cardigans lately and wishing I had more!

The shoes really do change the way the whole outfit comes off. I wouldn’t have thought to do that myself–what you’ve come up with looks terrific. Right now I am into sewing beautiful 1940s full slips to go under the warm dresses I plan to be sewing over the coming months. They will be cheery, pretty little silky things when I’ll otherwise be bundled up in heavy fabrics. I think slips bring infinitely more pleasure than linings ever could!
