come out, come out wherever you are!

[ my striking green dress. I adore this color! ]

Oh dear… I vanished again from Blogland for a bit! I have an excuse though: I spent my weekend testing a super secret, new pattern from this lovely lady. That meant locking myself in my “sewing room” for a few days, unplugging the computer (well, not really–I listened to a lot of podcasts and music!), and drinking lots of tea to stay alert. hehe! I wish I could show you the finished garment, ’cause it’s super cute, and as with all of Sarai’s designs is quite flattering and has that vintage vibe that I love so much. I promise, once she officially launches the new patterns, I’ll show you!

[ the red, cashmere sweater I refashioned--two years after I got it! ]

What else have I been doing? Well, to be honest: lots of creating! I altered a red cardigan that has been in my pile for almost two years (tutorial coming soon!), whipped up a skirt last week as well (the gray one in my fall sewing lineup), finished altering and hemming this dress, and have cast on a snood on my knitting needles. You may remember earlier this year I said I was knitting a snood, but I never said it was finished to showed any photographic evidence. Mostly because it was one of those projects that just crashed and burned–due in part to selecting the wrong sort of yarn. This time I grabbed something a bit more suited, and have been happily (if not slowly–I find larger needles are hard to manipulate in my smallish hands!), knitting for a half hour or so in the evenings. I hope to have some pictures very soon of the finished piece!

So, my dears: what have you been up to?

Wow, you’re testing patterns for Sarai?! I’m SO jealous! I can’t wait to see what’s coming out next in her line — even though I still haven’t had a chance to make the things I adore from her first run of patterns…

knitting, too. finished knitting a blue dress last week and just just started a long pullover with a (at least for me) very complicated pattern… uah.. I feel like dying, but I can give it up. ^^

I have not been NEARLY as productive as you, that’s for sure! I just have a certain blue dress to finish over the next few days.

That dress sure looks cute with the cover buttons!

Oh my gosh. In the photo with the sweater you altered (beautiful btw) there’s a purse hanging on the doorknob. I love that purse! :)

Oh, that green is beautiful. I love the buttons. I wish I was a talented sewer, too.. I decided to learn how to sew, and I made a swing skirt (that looks surprisingly good!). But knitting is something I really can’t do well!

Yay for a cardi tutorial, i haven’t quite re-taught myself how to knit, but i have about three i need to adjust. Also, I love sarai’s patterns, I’ve been meaning to get one since her last collection came out. And, I’ve been thinking about snoods lately too, but alas my hair is really not long enough for one of those quite at the moment.

You know, your work looks so well done! I am longing for a tutorial on the sweater redoing. I must confess to being a scaredy cat about cutting knitted things.
I have been cleaning up a storm, trying to turn off the decorating mode, and just generally being excited about your visit!
    Love,
    Mom

Wow that cardigan looks nice (been looking for a red one for ages). Looking forward to that tutorial!

Me, I’ve been wanting to get creative, but it only seems to work when I’m home alone for the whole afternoon+evening. Strange how I can’t get into making something when the boyfriend is around. Do you ever get that?

I love your blog! I have only been able to read a couple of your entrys so far, but they have all been great. I love your photos too. I read your ‘about me’ and I felt like I was reading about myself! Keep up the great work.

Wow, it sure sounds like you’ve hit a good creative vein! I’m so happy for you, it’s so great to just let one’s head be filled with plans and ideas, and then to actually do them.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing the dress, when the pattern is released =) I’m also very curious about the Swing Dress, since I’m considering buying the patter. Thank you so much for letting me know about the possibility of buying it as a pdf! It opened up a lot of new possibilites.

As for me, well, I also disappeared from blogland for a while. Mostly due to too little energy (the sun is slowly disappearing up here). But I did manage to sew my very first project using a vintage pattern! I made a wiggle skirt, and was quite amazed when the pattern just worked, without alterations. Now I’m hooked on vintage patterns! lol
New projects are a skirt for a friend and a dress for me, to be worn at our Christmas lindy hop show the 5th December. It’s all going to be so very Christmas-y red =)

    Wow, that looks amazing!
Once I am setteld into my new home I want to learn to sew!
For the moment I’n still building closet-doors, and painting walls and putting down floors… Can’t wait to have floors in all the rooms :p!!

OH! And I LOOOOVE snoods!!! I have three of them, bought om Etsy. But I think my hair has gotten to long for them now… It just doesn’t fit!! lol

colette patterns are so pretty, love to see the test!

i’m feel frazzled, almost a normal thing around these parts, hee hee! i might be getting a cold again (unless the last one never left?) while trying to figure out this 1940′s jumper pattern (no instructions AND pieces are missing!), just posted a new print and sewing pattern to the shop, working on more pattern ideas, some ornaments maybe, burned my lunch today (oh well!) and the list goes on…;)

glad to see you’re back, i always miss your posts!
