autumn giveaway

Hurrah! Time for a giveaway! It’s been a long, long time since my last giveaway! I love doing giveaways–it’s a way I can say “thank you” to all of you, my dear and cherished readers. You bring such joy and fun into my life, it’s a tiny way for me to try and give back.

This giveaway is for a charming, vintage bag. It’s a piece I found at an antique store recently, and was going to hoard for myself, but I decided would be the perfect piece for a giveaway. The outside is a lovely floral velvet, and the inside is fully lined. This bag looks a smaller than it is–it can hold quite a bit! I really love the pretty floral against the texture of the fabric–it’s so gorgeous! (Full disclosure: since this bag is vintage, it isn’t perfect. It has a few small spots, and the frame sometimes squeaks a bit when you’re opening it. But otherwise, it’s got lots of use left. I wouldn’t giveaway anything I wouldn’t keep in my own closet!!!)

To enter: leave a comment here (one per person, please) about anything you’d like–the outfit you’d fashion around this bag, your favorite blog, just to say “hi”… whatever catches your fancy! The giveaway will be open until November 1, 2009 (Sunday) at midnight. I will randomly pick a winner and announce them Monday (Nov. 2). This giveaway will be open to everyone–you don’t have to live in the US to qualify. Good luck dear friends!

Hi! That bag is too cute…the florals are perfect for fall…I need to add pieces like this to my wardrobe, because in LA, the leaves don’t really fall from the trees, and I miss it. Guess you can’t compete w/fall in New England, can you??!! Cute bag and blog!

Sarah M. October 28, 2009 at 18:41

Ahhhh! I love that bag! I would wear it with my new pleated black skirt and bright blue tights. Then I would steal your shoes! lol!

Slavi October 28, 2009 at 18:47

I would love to wear a dark green tweed dress with long sleeves along with this bag! Beautiful!

Thank you.

Megan S October 28, 2009 at 19:26

I wish I had a dress that matched that bag. Florals are under-rated. Truly. <3

Dani October 28, 2009 at 19:38

What a pretty purse! I would carry it while wearing my favorite jeans, my brown corduroy jacket, and my red t-strap heels.

Vicci Mulligan October 28, 2009 at 19:51

Elissa of Spandexpony October 28, 2009 at 20:01

This bag is as lovely as the one in your previous post! I would like to pair this bag with a pair of burnt sienna colored tights and a cream colored dress and shoes… I’ve recently invested in a whole bunch of old blue jewelry, so I’d love to let the bag and jewels speak for themselves. Excellent giveaway! Thank you!

Sarah October 28, 2009 at 20:21

Aww, what a beautiful little bag! I have such a weakness for pretty florals. I’d pair this bag with lots of warm layers of grey and brown and mustard…it’s such a perfect feminine touch to an outfit!

Lacy October 28, 2009 at 20:28

What a lovely bag!! =)

Anne October 28, 2009 at 20:30

I love this. Its like something my neighbor would have. She’s about eighty-five and the best lady you’ll ever meet, ever.

Laura October 28, 2009 at 20:30

I love the fact that it’s VELVET! One of my favorite cold-weather fabrics.

allison October 28, 2009 at 20:37

beautiful bag! But I want to see your entire outfit…are those your new shoes I spy?

SwingDoll October 28, 2009 at 20:43

This bag looks lovely! It is so nice of you to give it away to some lucky person. I’m sure whoever gets it will really enjoy it! I love vintage things, and big purses are kind of my thing. I always seem to bring far too many things with me :)

Sarah October 28, 2009 at 20:45

Lovely bag and would see many outfits to work with it.

Sarah October 28, 2009 at 20:56

wow that bag is goregeous! The second I saw it I thought it’d be fun to clash it up with my floral pants I bought recently and continue the Pretty in Pink invasion of my wardrobe ^.^

Your blog, as always is a treat to read.
Sarah

Mikaela October 28, 2009 at 21:02

Hey there,
what an absolutely adorable purse! I love it because I think I would carry it while wearing casual clothes like a pair of jeans and a shirt, but I also think it would look good while wearing something more fancy like a dress or a skirt.
I also like the fact that it’s a vintage bad, coz that means it has got so many different stories to tell.

Lots of love,
Mikaela

Hi, Casey.

I feel bad for only commenting now that you’re posting a give-away, even though I’ve been reading your blog religiously for several months now! But I’ve gotta say, that is just one gorgeous bag!

Thankyou for being so lovely and inspirational ^_^

Tera October 28, 2009 at 21:26

I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago after looking for tutorials on pin curls and 1940′s and 1950′s hairstyles. I have found your blog to be inspiring and just what I needed to kick start my creative side again. I share many of your same interests like knitting, sewing, jewelry making, and finding the perfect treasures at flea markets and rummage sales! Thanks for a such a great blog! You are a true gem!!

nicole October 28, 2009 at 21:31

oh my that bag is so cute! perfect for fall! I just thrifted a blue corduroy zip-front dress that would go perfectly with it.

Joanna October 28, 2009 at 21:31

This bag I would love… all the way from Australia xoxo

Jennifer October 28, 2009 at 21:45

Such a cute bag! I think I could finish off quite a few outfits with that!

vintage_mck October 28, 2009 at 21:52

Too funny, I started looking for a “carpet” bag as soon as I saw yours the other day – this would fill my obsession right now:) Thank you for the chance!

Genevieve October 28, 2009 at 21:58

Thanks, Casey! What a really nice thing to give away. I would wear it with lavender / violet tights, a short navy wool skirt and a cream colored top, maybe even one I’m planning to make myself based on your chemise pattern! It’s gorgeous.

Katie October 28, 2009 at 22:09

Hi Casey,

Kalyn October 28, 2009 at 22:32

I just love your blog. You have showed me that is possible to wear vintage clothing…today! I really loved the pictures of your wedding…soooo beautiful. I hope my wedding is half as beautiful as yours :) Thanx again for all of your inspiration.

Audrey October 28, 2009 at 22:34

Oooh, this purse reminds me of a vintage purse my mom gave me that she had in the seventies. It’s blue velvet with a floral lining and rhinestones placed just so that it forms a heart on the outside. It also reminds me that I need to dig it out and repair the strap and maybe even try to draft a pattern so I can make repros of it!

DizzyDame October 28, 2009 at 22:36

cute bag!!
and l love charlie chaplin.

Devin October 28, 2009 at 22:36

I found your blog today, and it was instant love. It’s now going to be overloaded with comments from me. I would wear a sweet LBD with some wonderful tailoring. OF COURSE, I would wear my wonderful vintage hat and some pumps…. ahhh… vintage is wonderful.

Fawn October 28, 2009 at 22:40

I love reading your blog, it’s inspired so many of my daily outfits!

Kate October 28, 2009 at 22:44

That bag would look fabulous with a mustard coloured cardi, wouldn’t you say? Well, what a coincidence my dear — I have one!

<3 You have a lovely blog and a lovely giveaway. I always enjoy reading.

Sarah October 28, 2009 at 22:48

That bag is lovely! Everyone can use a velvet purse.

michelle rosborough October 28, 2009 at 22:51

I’d wear this with jean, tee & boots

Sarah October 28, 2009 at 23:03

Love the blue lining. Modern clothing/accessories lack little touches like that.
I once found a cardigan at Old Navy with a gorgeous pastel floral lining. It wasn’t well made, though, and the fabric shrunk before the lining.

Cassie Stephens October 28, 2009 at 23:25

Just placed my first bid ever on ebay for a pair of Frye boots…if I win those AND this adorable bag, I’d be way too lucky!

Always love reading your blog…what became of your knitted red sweater?

Thanks
Cassie

Emelin October 28, 2009 at 23:43
