10.05.09 outfit
[ all dressed up and only housework to do! ]
- Blue dress: Trashy Diva
- Gingham apron: a gift from my friend Sophia!
- Tropical print heels: small shop in the mall
- Cherry earrings: Claire’s
- Petticoats (not seen): vintage/thrifted
Monday dawned bright and early, and I was faced with the enormity of the housework I had to do. Sewing like a mad woman the previous two weeks meant that the normal flow of chores didn’t get done to the extent I’d like, and things had gotten a little chaotic. I’m not the type that demands perfect neatness all the time (goodness knows I generate enough mess myself from all my projects!), but the feeling like it was all growing and multiplying was starting to get a bit creepy…
[ my "wild" shoes. I've had these since January and only pull them out occasionally! ]
But to make the task a bit more fun and exciting, I decided to dress up a bit! I’ve been wearing my favorite Trashy Diva dress a lot lately (it’s still hot here), and it never ceases to make my smile and feel super elegant! I also put on a sweet little pink, gingham apron my lovely friend Sophia sent me recently–it was just the thing to keep my dress spot free! I don’t always dress up to this extent when I do a serious house clean, but some days it just makes the task more pleasant.

I can really understand how this outfit will make the housework a lot more fun. And I think I’m going to follow your example. I have a lot, a LOT, of ironing to do (procrastinating it for weeks and only ironing what needs to be worn creates a big, BIG, pile) and I think I am going to do that in a pretty little dress. With a cardigan, I think. Beccause here, unfortunately, fall really entered..

Wow! Did you even clean in the high heels? I feel like such a shlub for cleaning in my sweatpants. Haha. Maybe I’ll try this and cleaning will be even more fun!

when i’m too cozy i sometimes get tempted to just curl up and watch a movie, but when i feel neat and tidy then i want my house to match! -

Casey, you crack me up. I, too, get dressed up when I need to get down to business. It helps me focus. Besides, those sassy shoes need their strutting-around time!

I agree! A little dressing up can do wonders, and can certainly make even the most tedious task a little less unpleasant. -

How fun, I’ve never actually worn my vintage aprons to clean/cook in… I’m always a bum and just wear my PJs when cleaning! That shade of blue is gorgeous and I love the style of the dress.

Those shoes are so cute. I’ve been wanting a similar pair for a long time now. And the TD dress is so awesome. Did you get yours taken up? I have a red one which I think needs just about 2 inches off the end.

Wow, you look amazing!! I may just need to steal this! I was going to make myself a blue halter neck dress this weekend (only, i really should be sewing for the shop at the moment – cough!). And I have the perfect apron to go with it. And cleaning in heels is always the best isn’t it?

hmmm…I bet ‘sailor husband’ loves coming home from work to see you like this!
Love the apron. I’m always wearing one, sometimes vintage, sometimes homemade. Why? Well I’m lucky enough to be a housewife. So I stay at home and, um, clean and cook, yeah! and never, ever have all day Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathons. Never.

Wonderful Dress to broom in! I always enjoy baking with a wide skirted dress… even though it is entirely unpractical. @amazinglyamara
