wedding bells

I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since Sailor Husband and I tied the knot! Some days it feels like we’ve been married for much longer (and I mean that in the nicest way), and the wedding a distant memory. hehe! So imagine my utter surprise when an editor from the Martha Stewart Weddings blog contacted me about featuring my wedding this month. I cannot tell you how excited and flattered I am (I swear it’s all Kate’s fault–her photography made our wedding look so good!). So if you want to (you don’t have to of course!), you might want to go take a peek over at the MS Weddings blog and the slideshow to see the feature on our wedding. It was a fun experience to remember many of the moments of that day (especially since our 1 year anniversary is a little over 2 months away). I feel so honored to have our wedding featured–I’m seriously jumping up and down here!

A big thanks to Kate Headley, Shira at MS Weddings and all the lovely friends and family members that pitched in to help make our wedding happen!

Quincy September 2, 2009 at 11:45

aww, how neat!!!

Time really flies doesn’t it!? I can’t believe Jonny and I have been married well over a year now :o )

Karen September 2, 2009 at 11:48

Congratulations! And so very well-deserved. It is refreshing to see such a chic and beautiful wedding that wasn’t done on the freakily massive scale that seems to be the case so often with weddings. I really enjoyed the photos–they completely warmed my heart! I love that you married in November, and that photo of you two outside the old house is gorgeous. Your dress was beautiful–and those shoes! LOVE. :) Happy almost-anniversary.

catherine_sr September 2, 2009 at 12:02

That’s amazing! Congratulations!

Lizzy September 2, 2009 at 12:04

Congratulations dear! That is so amazing to be feature by the Martha Stewart Wedding blog, but the recognition is completely deserved. Your wedding pictures are completely amazing, it looks like it was such a lovely day for you and your husband. You did a beautiful job planning, so simple and elegant, such a nice contrast to most weddings these days. Best wishes and congrats on your upcoming one year anniversary :)

Corinna September 2, 2009 at 12:06

Wow, the pictures are amazing! i love the idea of having a certain theme for a wedding not just white kitsch and flowers

Kelly September 2, 2009 at 12:08

Sofia September 2, 2009 at 12:14

How exciting!

nancy September 2, 2009 at 12:39

Wow, Casey, that’s so exciting! What an honor for you to be chosen for Martha’s site! (I’m not surprised of course.)

Just the other day I was thinking about our wedding and about how we haven’t really shared the photos with family. I should put some up on my blog so they can see them! (I’m ashamed to say it’s been almost 9 years and they haven’t seen them yet…)

Rhiannon September 2, 2009 at 12:54

Casey, congratulations–I bet Martha loves you!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if she had you do a whole article on planning a lovely vintage-inspired wedding on a budget. That ’40s sailor theme was absolutely perfect!

frostedmoxie September 2, 2009 at 12:55

Congratulations! Thats so amazing! I’m getting married soon myself and your wedding photos were really inspiring to me! I’ve been checking the martha stewart weddings website often too, and its so exciting to see a familiar face on there.

hannah September 2, 2009 at 13:31

big congratulations! your wedding was so so beautiful!

Sarah September 2, 2009 at 13:51

Oh Casey, that is just lovely! Congratulations on the feature! The photos are gorgeous (you two are the cutest), and I love your dress. It has such a wonderful Edwardian feel to it. It is so refreshing to see other couples choosing to have intimate and personal weddings, contrasting the huge, commercial weddings (and those cookie cutter dresses!) that are so popular these days. Yay for handmade/vintage weddings! We went the same route with ours last fall and I don’t think it could have been more perfect or personal to do it all with the help of friends and family.

To be featured on MS is such an honour, and you deserve every bit of it!

sarah September 2, 2009 at 14:07

And thank you so much for the thoughtful comment :) !

Kate in Belgrade September 3, 2009 at 03:16

It was so nice looking at your lovely photos. We also had a vintage-y, homemade wedding: it was winter, and I wore an Edwardian gown with lace inserts that I made myself. Seeing your photos brings back those happy memories!

Andi B. Goode September 3, 2009 at 03:50

Congratulations! That’s wonderful and very exciting. =D

Thanks so much for sharing,

Helen September 4, 2009 at 10:36

wow your wedding was stunning! no wonder MS wanted to feature it! especially as it was low budget and still amazing, something lots of people want now. i love your red bouquet too, adds a real splash of colour.

eitchy September 5, 2009 at 08:32

Peeking in on your blog once in a while, never commenting until now, I must say that your feature was well deserved. I loved that you kept your theme all the way through the wedding and all the details in their simplicity. Like someone above me said, such a contrast to most weddings these days.

Francy September 5, 2009 at 09:35

How exciting! And you both look so lovely!

kassy September 5, 2009 at 17:22
