style inspiration: vintage beauty

I’ve seen this blog talked about a few places, so I’m sure it’s not nessecarily new to anyone, but I thought I’d post about it anyway! This morning I spent some time (probably far too much–haha!) browsing all the wonderful hair setting diagrams and inspiration over at Beauty is a Thing of the Past. We’re talking quite a few amazing scans from vintage beauty and hair manuals and publications; most of which are prior to the 1960s. I was really over the moon about the plethora of 40s hair setting diagrams! I’ve been quite lax the past month or so about trying to do anything with my hair, since the humidity has been making it frizz beyond belief. But I finally figured out a solution to tame my tresses (after consulting with the talented gal who cuts my hair), and am eager to go back to doing 40s sets more often. So stop on over there and check out Beauty is a Thing of the Past; there’s loads to see on so many different beauty topics!

I also wanted to let y’all know that this week I’m launching a little experiment. I normally post blog entries in the mornings, but am finding with the way my days are structured that I get too distracted and end up spending more time scrambling to put together things than I should (oops!). So for this week I’m planning on updating in the evenings; that way I can work on the post for the day in snippets and just click “publish” at the end of the day. hehe! If it works out better, I’ll switch to that schedule going forward (which means Monday’s post will be published Sunday evening, and Friday’s Thursday evening, etc.). I hope no one will mind; I figure this way you’ll have a fresh post waiting in your feed reader in the morning anyway. lol.

I have an exciting interview to post tomorrow–I can’t wait! Hope you all are having a fantastic Monday (or Tuesday morning)!

I hadn’t heard of this this site either, but I love it! Just wonderful!

Hmm, weekday and time is after all relative (like everything else, according to Einstein =) ), so for me it seems like whatever works for you will work for us! In what part of US are you? Just so I can figure out what Sunday and Thursday evening will be for me =)

Looking forward to your posts, no matter when they come!

Ever seen the movie “The Magic of Ordinary Days?” You’ll love Keri Russel’s hair, make-up, and costume in that period film! <3
