Thank you so much, dear friends, for sharing in my excitement over the MS Weddings feature this week! It meant so much to us to read over the sweet comments (and early anniversary wishes!)!
Is it just me, or is there something utterly magical about a 3-day weekend? We don’t have any “big” plans (unless you want to count furniture repair as big. lol!), but I’m looking forward to the time with my Sailor and some hopefully productive sewing (and knitting… since I can’t seem to put it down!). I’ve got to finish the shirtwaist dress I started (it needs a zipper, which I conviently forgot to pick up before I started this!), a little tshirt refashion, and start a muslin for my dress for the Navy Ball. I plan on doing a big post about my inspiration for the Navy Ball gown next week–so stay tuned!

- An amusing and fun list of 1920s slang. Can you imagine saying some of these in daily conversation now?!
- Jen is having a fantastic giveaway for a custom made skirt!
- How to add an adorable bow to a skirt.
- A fun post of beautiful 1930s coats…
- Francis Baker posted a lovely post all about teatime–my favorite time of day!

This week’s vintage inspiration image is from the 20s. Although summer is starting to wane in some locales, it’s still furiously hanging on here. So despite my pining for autumn, I still am keeping summer firmly in mind. These beautiful pieces just look so effortlessly casual; even 80 years later! The pocket details are what really got me–designers and manufacturers used such unique shapes and accents on pockets in past eras. I feel that many modern clothes are just stuck in the “basic pocket rut”; they aren’t really interesting or add a whole lot to the overall aesthetic of the garment. I love the little triangular ones!
I hope you all have a simply lovely and splendid weekend!

I have GOT to start calling things “the eel’s hips”!
Thanks for the wonderful links and inspiration! I just love that 20s slang, it’s so entertaining. I think it would fun to go around using some it for a whole day to see what kind of looks I’d get
hehehe I love that 20s image, the pockets are so great, I love the half circle ones and the triangle ones as well!
Hope your 3 day weekend is lovely! I can’t wait to see what the dress your making for the Navy Ball looks like, although I can safely bet that it will be gorgeous
I love the pictures this week!
I loved the list of 20′s sayings! I’ve always said get in a lather and glad rags. Hmm, I guess I’m more of an old soul than I thought!
Oh yes, I adore those pockets! I also love belt tabs that are in unusual shapes. Makes me want to make another skirt like the ones pictured.
Have a Happy Labor Day Weekend!
OOh a link! Thanks Casey, I’m glad to hear from other crazy tea lovers out there like me!
I just love that 20′s image, the dresses are so amazing!
I loved the 1920s slang! I like to say ‘and how!’ quite a bit, to tell the truth. Haha.
That ’20s slang cracked me up! And I am so nerdy, I wrote down a few of my favorites to use in conversation today.
Ahh 1920′s slang! That’s amazing! I am so going to work these into conversations from now on!
Lovely, lovely vintage image today! (er, friday…)
Thank you so much for linking my give away
I love the 20′s slang link – I still say ‘get a wiggle on’ and call things glad wrags, I wasn’t even aware they were 20′s slang!!
Lovely pictures! The 20s slang was great, so much fun to read! And I just adored the post about teatime. For me, it’s always teatime ; )
I fell imediatley for Frances Baker’s blog, so thank you for linking to it! It always amazes me how you manages to find these great blogs and take the time to convey them to us. A couple of my favourite bookmarks I found thanks to you, and then I’ve only followed your blog for a bit over a month! So thank you, and I hope you had a great weekend and will have an ever better week! =)
It’s details like those pockets that spawned my love of vintage. I love to look at Erte’s fashion drawings and imagine making modern garments with such flair.
Great post ! Thank you !
Totally agree with you on the pockets thing!
Hey, just wanted to let you know I updated and added you to my blogroll.
Ahhh..those washskirts!!! Ah-mazing!! The pockets definitely are the best part! So nice–thanks for sharin’!

My friend and I just stumbled across one of your hair tutorials on youtube, and we LOVED it! I chopped my long off back in May because I felt like it had no style, but you’ve just inspired me to grow it back out and create gorgeous looks with it. Thank you for your class and creativity!
I always look forward to fridays just for your inspiration post! Can’t wait to see your finished beauties
