digging out from beneath the sewing…
[ finished train beading and embellishment! ]
My apologies for my erratic posting the past week… I’m deep in sewing and beading mode right now; just about every waking moment has been spent doing something to go towards my Sabrina dress! (Well, I admit: I take breaks to make sure I eat, check the mail, and do a bit of exercise to get my heart pumping!) The beading along the train hem is finished! In addition to the beading along the swag at the bottom, I also beaded and applied sequins to the floral motifs between. To kick it up a notch, I found a little stash of crystal rhinestones I had in my bead box (bought years and years ago–yay for hoarding supplies!) and stitched those to the center of each of the big flowers. I am so excited with how glamorous it looks (and happy it’s done! My hands were starting to cramp from all the handsewing I had been doing…). Other sewing news: the dress itself is almost completed: a hem is the only thing left to do. Hurrah!
[ at the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy concert Saturday afternoon. ]
In the midst of all this sewing madness, Sailor Husband and some friends dragged me away for a day trip we had been looking forward to for months. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was playing at Epcot this weekend, and since we all had passes, it seemed like the perfect way to spend a Saturday! I have to admit: the set was a bit short (I suspect Disney restricts concerts to a certain amount of time. Boo on them!), but listening to their music in person was exhilarating! I always enjoy hearing musicians perform live, and have had too few opportunities to do so in my life (my sister and I were convinced for a time that our attempts to go to concerts were cursed; it seemed every time we tried, it got canceled or sold out!). Totally worth a break from beading! hehe! What has been your favorite concert-going experience?
I am hoping to squeeze a few posts out this week (despite a continued forcast of Sewing Madness)–and not just about the dress project! lol. I hope you all are having a lovely Monday!

I can’t wait to see the finished project! I haven’t attempted a project of this magnitude since senior year of high school, when I made the “jumping dress” from “Titanic” for Halloween (and even then I just used a Simplicity pattern and definitely no couture sewing techniques). Your blog is inspiring me to dust off my (very) rusty sewing skills again…

Wow, the beading work you did looks absolutely amazing! I love the little crystral rhinestones that you added, definitely a glamorous little touch
It’s so gorgeous that it looks like it will be worth the sore, cramped hands in the end
I can’t wait to see the completed dress.
Glad you got to get out to that concert. It looks like it was a lot of fun

oh wow Casey! This dress is going to be the greatest! I cannot wait to see it as a finished product! You’re really inspiring and creative!

And wow that concert musta been something! I think my greatest concert experience to this day is Fleetwood Mac! They came not long ago and my non-sailor boyfriend sent me and his mom together cause we both love them and we both spent the whole time hugging and singing along!!!! -

Oh I simply cannot wait to see the finished project! Knowing you, this dress will be an absolutely fairytale.

My favourite concert experience was Loreena McKennitt at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Her music is very mediaeval/celtic, and the Fox Theatre is an immaculate Art Deco theatre with a Moorish/Arabian theme, so it was an incredibly atmospheric experience. -

Oddly enough, I had my best concert experience at a concert I also threw up 9 times at.
My anticipation is building to see the finished dress, so excited!

Sadly, so far all my concert experiences have been open ones, with way too much pot smoke.
I can’t wait to see the dress, I am fairly certain that it is going to be amazing!

I have some great photos of big bad voodoo daddy when I saw them some years ago.
Scotty kept telling people to “take your girl for a spin”. -

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Epcot together!!! Despite the short set, that must’ve been an awesome combination!
And your dress! It looks smashing already! I can’t wait to see the final result =)

Ooh, I’d love to see BBVD. =D Glad you had a good time, even if the set was short. I have quite a few favourite concert experiences, but from this year it was definitely Stray Cats. They’re amazing. =]

Wow, that’s fast sewing! How great that you’re so close to the finish line, with actually a few days left! (I’m a last-minute, middle of the night kind of seamstress) Looking forward to the posts this week, but I have to admit; even more looking forward to the pictures of the ready dress… =)
Unfortunatley I have not been to many live concerts, but I do like dancing to live music, especially to big bands (I do the lindy hop).
Have fun sewing this week! =) -
