I usually am not into the mid to late 1960s. Of all fashion eras, it’s probably the least flattering to my shape (along with the 20s). But, when our friends invited us last Friday to a Beatles themed party (to play this new game!), my friend Debbi and I had decided to get in the spirit of things and dress up in 60s style outfits. After going through my vintage, I realized I didn’t really have any late 60s garments anymore, but rather than miss out on an opportunity to really dress up, Thursday evening I went through my pattern stash and pulled out some fabric to whip up something really quickly! I know, I’m completely and utterly insane to even think I can make something in the 11th hour. lol. But I did, and it turned out pretty darn cute! Unfortunately we were running super late Friday, so I didn’t get any photos of me all dressed up, but suffice to say I did go a little overboard with the 60s inspired makeup and hair. haha! Sorry for the lame dress-on-the-mannequin photos. I would model it myself, but I got badly sunburned Sunday and am a bit scary looking right now (Sailor Husband has nicknamed me “Lobster Wife”. haha!).

Very brave to make a last minute dress! Super cute… though too bad there are no photos of the whole look…
Oh my gosh, that is so adorable. Must. Learn. To. Sew.
Wonderful job, as usual! I was kind of scared at first, a lot of ’60s creations can be kind of loud/scary, but this is a LOVELY interpretation! Well done
Aww I would like to have seen pictures! I love that dress! It’s so adorable! That idea of a Beatles party to celebrate the new game sounds splendid! I think I might want to have one.
What a cute dress!! Ive almost finished sewing a skirt im making in the same colours. Its a shame you didnt get time to take photos of you all dressed up, we will have to use our imaginations

That is so cute! It’s fantastic that you pulled it together at the last minute. I hope your sunburn gets better soon!
it amazes me that you are able to “whip something up” that way! Casey you’re seriously awesome!
So cute! The colours are just gorgeous – so bright
I dont suit 60′s or 20′s looks either…its that general “sackiness” of the stylings that does nothing for us girls with hips eh! But your dress would work because it still has that ribbon under the bust. Pretty!
Aw! I am sorry to miss out on pictures from you actually dressed up and make up’ed for the 60s night. That must have been something!
Lobster wife!?! Oh dear…
Beautiful dress! Such cheery colors…totally in keeping with the period, but still fresh for today.
What a cute fabric! It’s perfect for the style! And I know about starting projects in the 11 th hour… Lol! I always end up with a almost-ready-dress, where there’s small things yet to be done, but nobody can see them. So I use it anyway, and I say: I’ll finish this later this week. And then it lays in the closet until I want to wear it again… =)
That dress is amazing! Another fantastic creation from you! I really enjoy seeing the fruits of your labour Polly x
I love what you did with THAT fabric!!!! It really is true to the times. I had a cute little flowered suit I just loved to wear back in the day. I thought I was hot stuff with the “poorboy” shirt I wore with it. (I think that was a ribbed t-shirt.) I can just see something like that in Hard Days Night. Sorry you didn’t get any pics.
Hope that burn gets better!

Oh What a gorgeous dress! Wish I could make things from patterns but they make me so confused and frustrated lol. Xxxc
It looks very Modcloth! I like it
.
I’m in the same boat – my body type definitely doesn’t suit early 1960s clothing which is a shame cos it has some of the most beautiful tailored shapes.
Love the colour of fabric though and the cap sleeves – I bet you looked great!

Super cute! I love the 60s, but sadly it doesn’t really suit me either.
Uh, I have a hard time believe you’d look bad in ’60s dresses, but I suppose I feel the same away about me and ’50s things, so everybody must have a least favorite decade!
Anyway I hope you take pictures with that dress because it’s really cute. And amazing that you whipped it up so fast!
Hi! That’s a gorgeous dress, I’m jealous of all these vintage patterns you dig up! The fabric is perfect for it. I’ve only once sewn something from a vintage pattern (other than an attempt at an 1800s paletot…yikes is all I’ll say) and that was a pair of pants from a 1969 pattern. I love your blog, btw, I’ve put it on my blogroll!
This is so cute! I usually don’t like this period that much, but your dress is so darn adorable that it has made me second guess it!
Use lots of aloe vera!
Hehe. Your husband is funny
oooh i want to see what it looks like on you! i’m sure you looked darling! just darling!
Wow that dress looks great! It’s a really nice blog you got.
Ooooh yipppeee!!! Welcome to my genre! hee. I knew you would rock it girlie! So cute!
