inspiration week #86

My goodness–Friday already! It always seems like no sooner than I finish a collage and link-gathering for one post, then it’s time for the next. hehe! I actually have two posts for today, but the next one will wait until a bit later. Keep your eyes open though–it’s a giveaway!

- Jessica posted about her favorite old timey blues artists
- Tips on running your own business from Doe Deere
- Inspiring work from a female photographer in 1920s Hollywood
- A project I’ve been wanting to try: tea staining
- Nesting Place is a fantastic, budget-friendly decorating blog I’ve started reading recently…

My sister and I have been having a blast (and she’s only been here a day and a half)! So far we’ve taken wacky photos of two of her Beatles action figures at various places (silly, touristy photos), spent too much time giggling over silly movies, debated the merits of blogging, and spent time side-by-side on the sofa Tweeting. lol. We have lots more silliness planned for the weekend (and more Beatles photos…).
Hope you have a lovely, relaxing weekend friends!

So glad you two are having a ball. Can’t wait to see more photos! I peered at this one for a while before I figured out what those brown things are on their shoulders – guitar straps. But WHERE are the GUITARS?!?

That Beatles picture instantly reminded me of Amelie, when she steals her father’s gnome and has someone take photographs of it in front of the Taj Mahal, the Statue of Liberty and other landmarks.
It’s good to see you and your sister (and of course John and Paul!) are having a good time

tea dying is so much fun! i love that i can dye anything i want to practically, and its not really bad for the enviornment or anything. ive done it with so many projects, particularly eighties lacey pieces, its like an instant antique- from neon put-on-your-snow-goggles white, to a delicate victorian-y bone color. the only problem ive had is that the piece might look fab, but ill sometimes end up washing me out, so my advice to you is tea dye little pieces to wear, then add lots of colors in your bottom or top and accessories, especially if its really close to your face! ive worn a tea-dyed blouse so close to my skin tone that my face almost melted into the neckline, haha.

Alas, Emmy, Herbert attempted to eat the x-ray machine at airport security and had to be sent home. And/or I didn’t have room in my luggage. PERSONALLY I LIKE THE FIRST STORY BETTER.
Plus John is a little jealous of Paul’s close friendship with Herbert. We tell him that Mudkip loevs him, but you know. John’s a jealous guy.
