Hello, my friends! I woke up insanely early this morning (how does 4:30 do?), and have an alarming amount of energy. Which is a good thing, but I just know I’m going to crash sooner or later. lol. Hopefully I’ll be conscious enough for some serious sewing this afternoon though (and not prone to mistakes!).

This week’s vintage inspiration image is something from that amazing goody box I received. It’s a page of “serviceable styles” from the 1920s. I just love how they call these styles “serviceable” (or I’ve seen “practical”; never anything unglamorous as “utilitarian”… hehe!); they’re so pretty! Can you imagine wearing one of those pretty frocks to clean the house? *le sigh* So, so cute! My favorite is the polka dot one in the trio of house dresses.
Have a splendid weekend, all!

Serviceable is such a funny euphemism … and I think those styles are downright spiffy myself!

Hi! I just love that birdie, but that doesn’t surprise you, does it? He is so sweet.
Like the vintage images from Aunt D. I personally favor the blue one.
I will have to check out the link for the bias tape. You know that is a source of difficulty for me.

I would be so scared I was going to get something icky on my dress! Dad/boyfriend/husband’s old shirts were invented for a reason!

Aww little blue bird! Adorable.
I’ve been getting up early too, though your 4:30 puts my 5:30 to shame. I do end up having a nap when I crash around 2pm though!
Happy weekend!

I never thought I would want to sew something from the 20s, as beautiful as the styles are they would be rendered potato sacks on me, but I love that blue frock on the upper right and the two ladies’ tops (standing with the man)!

I love that blue plaid dress… I’m big on blue and plaid.
4:30 is indeed early. Don’t crash too hard… preferably, find yourself a nice cosy soft spot with some goodies at hand and maybe a vintage magazine or two. Take care!

I cannot, for the life of me, braid my own hair. I mean, I can do the two braids or the one, but any french or variety of – it’s impossible. I guess I ought to practice more.
