inspiration week #82

The end of another week, the beginning of a long weekend and the “official” start of summer! (Here in the US at least.) Although I have to admit: it’s felt like summer since March. lol. I have plans to do a little online fabric shopping, some sewing, and hopefully doing some pattern drafting! I think it’s supposed to be rainy all weekend, so at least that will keep me from being distracted by any too-good-to-resist weather. hehe! What are your plans and dreams for this weekend?

- Exploring the psychology of vintage
- An entire Flickr photo stream of vintage advertisements (from myvintagevogue)!
- A fantastic roundup of inspiration and ideas on how to get that 1950s look on a budget
- Solanah detailed how to shop for vintage affordably!
- For all you sewing junkies, I just discovered you can now subscribe to Threads Magazine’s rss feed! Finally: sewing tips and tricks delivered right to my feed reader!

This post also celebrates the return of the weekly vintage inspiration image! (Or at least, one vintage inspiration image. I know I post quite a few throughout the week. lol!) Contrast bands at the hem have been a reoccurring theme in my sketches and ideas lately. So this darling frock fits right into the thread nicely!
Have a lovely weekend, dear friends!

Wonderful inspiration as always Casey!
I wish i had this weekend off to sew. I bought 12 vintage patterns in a charity shop yesterday for £5.50! They were in a box hiding under a shelf. Even weirder, every single one was my size! I am dying to try one out!
Instead, i have an exam tomorrow (first ever exam on a Saturday – it’s gross!) followed by a gig that night in Reading. Sunday, i plan to host a friendly get together, so there is some homely joy in the weekend: i get to bake!Post some pics of your lovely creations!

Thanks for the Threads feed tip! I have a subscription to the magazine, but it’s kind of lame that they only send them out every two months. It would be nice to get more frequent updates online!
I have fun plans this weekend (in my opinion!). I’m working on my first quilt which is for my husband’s cousin’s wedding in June and it’s just beautiful, so I’m really enjoying working on it! I’m hoping to get most of it done (if not totally finished) by Tuesday.
Also FYI, Jo-Ann Fabrics is having a Memorial Day sale this weekend with lots of stuff 50% off. I don’t know if you have this store in your area, but I’d check it out if you’re out and about! They’re also doing a 50% sale for one item ordered online, if that’s more convenient. Just thought I’d let you know!

Hi! Oh, Casey, that bunny image on the lower left is so sweet! I think there may be a collection in my future.
I plan on reading your first link about the psychology of vintage. That sounds very interesting!
Have a great weekend!

Happy weekend and thanks for such lovely inspiration!
This weekend I’m planning to do nothing more than pack up my room in preparation of moving back to my parents house for the summer! Exciting non? Ah well, must be done!!I hope you’re well, and manage to get everything you want done this weekend – and that the weathers slightly better than expected! xx

Two mentions! You’re too good to me Casey
I agree on how good weather is so distracting. Today I’m just doing housework, the sunny days this week means that nothing got done
But I told myself it was too windy for a picnic today. Hehe. Can’t wait to see what you make, you always create the cutest things!
