One thing I haven’t done a lot of this year is outfit posts. Mostly because I have been in a bit of a sartorial slump: not feeling well for most of the year (ugh!), whittling down my wardrobe quite a bit (due to moving), and just not being sure of what to wear in Florida. It’s all been a bit blah around here, so I’ve decided to banish the ho-hums and start documenting my outfits again! Whether this is every day, or once-a-week, I think this will give me a bit of the added momentum I need to start putting together creative outfits again. (I do hope that one one will take this as a narcissistic, “look at me!” move on my part; rather it’s to help jump start myself again and give me some “accountability” to begin doing what I love so much!)

I almost couldn’t wait to show you these outfit photos, if nothing else because of the 1940s updo! It’s taken me forever to figure out how to do a forward roll (sans a “rat” or foam roller; I don’t have any), but after weeks of trying (and failing) I finally succeeded! Granted, it’s not as fabulous as Fleur’s, but heck, it’s a start! I daresay everyone in the building thinks I’m a complete nut job at this point, dashing around with my hair done in odd ways. lol!

Anyway, thank you for your opinions about the replacement buttons for those adorable shoes! It was so much fun to read your opinions and ideas! I have to admit, I was still on the fence as of this morning, but decided I had to decide, rather than procrastinate. lol. The cream with the swirl pattern were the winners, despite my earlier love of the red-centered ones. As some pointed out, perhaps the red might clash a bit with certain outfits; something that even if no one else noticed, would bother me! I rather like how they look, even if they are a little bit less eccentric and plain… But still super cute!

You are amazing! Love the ‘do.
That outfit would be FIERCE with some heels. You are adorable.
I love the hair! I seriously wish I had the skills to re-create that look with my fro.

Looking lovely as always =)
Fabulous! That outfit is a great look for you. I like how you’ve mixed and matched with the outfit and the shoes, it gives it a nice air of casual elegance. Your hair and eye make-up looks amazing too… bravo!
And to quote the beloved Mr. Bennett:
“For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn?”
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Look at you going all rockabilly! Or, well, partially rockabilly at least. The skirt! The hair! ALL of it is just fantastic, Casey lady!
Wow I really like your hair like that! I’ve been trying to do my fringe like that too, but so far failed :/ Like the outfit too, but agree with Laurie in that some heels could also work pretty well…
The whole thing – the up-do, the outfit – is fantastic! I love your outfit posts because they inspire me to go thrifting again. There aren’t any good thrift shops where I live so I have to make the effort. But the outfit posts are great motivation. I’m looking forward to more to come!
Ha! Your hair do looks at least as fabulous, if not more so than mine! I always find reasons to not be 100% satisfied with my hair dos and you have done it without a rat so you are instantly mre awesome.
Love your outfit and especially those wedges!
You look GREAT! I love the new hairstyle. Maybe it’s just me, but the whole outfit seems to have a bit more of an edge than your usual more romantic style.
I also love the hint of purple eyeshadow, may I ask what brand/color it is?
Love that stripey shirt! I’m looking for a nice striped one myself… you look great!
You look wonderful!!!! I love the hair, the make up, and the outfit. Very fun!
Wow, you look adorable! x
Yay, oufit post! I would never, ever think of you as being narcissistic, Casey, you seem to be one of the nicest people out there. This outfit is great, as always.
can you give us a tutorial on the front roll???
WOW you look so gorgeous! Love the hair and the outfit! I’d be too scared to leave the house with my bangs rolled up like that, but you look fantastic!
This is a terrific outfit! I’m still loving those shoes.
Oh and the hair! I’d be fascinated to get the low down on that.
It’s so funny that you remarked about the other people in your building and what they must think of you. I was wondering just that when I saw your Mr. Freckles photos on Flickr last night! Do you get stares from the uninformed? I’d so love to hear what kind of feedback you get. I’ve found that most people don’t even get the whole 1940′s vintage thing. I’ve been accused of dressing like both the 60s and 80s, neither of which was true at the time.
I love the quote from P&P by Jenny-Rose – she’s absolutely right!
Seriously stunning! Love the incredible jolt of energy that the fire engine red skirt gives off.
Best of luck to you, my dear, with your plan to share/take more photos of your gorgeous outfits. I’m sure they’ll all be sensational!
Just lovely!!! People around here think I’m a nut too!
) I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling too well. If it makes you feel any better, I had mono right after getting married and I am just now getting back on my feet. Have a lovely evening darling!
WOW – Look at your hair!! I think you’ve done a fantastic job of it – well done
And, as i think i mentioned when you first go those shoes, if you ever don’t want them then i have a pair of feet who will gladly wear them
I hope you start feeling better soon, and i hope doing outfit posts will help with those creative juices, i know it certainly helps me to think about what i’m wearing.
Love the outfit and your hair looks great!
sooo jealous of your hair do, you must do a tutorial!
on a completely different topic, are you interested in a couple of vintage knitting patterns? i was going through my pattern collection and found a crochet pattern for a cape and a knitting pattern for a sweater, both 40′s i believe. let me know if you are interested!
Please do my hair!
I’m in awe
I love outfit photos ! It’s such an inspiration for me, because most of the time I have similar clothes but I’m not wearing them together or with the right accessories.
You are so adorable! Your hair looks amazing like that
Yay! Stripey t shirt and vintage look! You look adorable.
Stripes are awesome, I don’t think it needs any embellishment (though I’m sure it would be cute). And of course the hair is amazing.
Alright I’m going to second the emotion for a roll tutorial. I can do the rolls on the sides, but not the bangs.
VERY CUTE!!! I have been a life long Floridian…so if you need any help adjusting…just pop me an email & I’d be glad to help.
You do your hair and make up so well! It really looks authentic, like you’ve just stepped out of the 40′s!
Keep the outfit posts coming! Your hair is stunning!
Your hair is insane! It looks awesome, as does the red skirt. Did you get your hair coloured darker recently? Because I remember you being blonder before…
I just wanted to tell you that I absolutely love your blog. I just came upon it for the first time and will be visiting it regularly. Thanks for all the inspirational posts!
The shoes! The shoes! Are they current? Can I buy them right now? I love those shoes!!!!!!
