Okay, so quoting part of The Night Before Christmas might be a little odd, considering it’s the wrong time of year! But today feels like Christmas to me (hence, this has been going through my head all day!). My mom is flying down to spend the week with us and I’m super excited! I haven’t seen my family since Sailor Husband and I bid them adieu two days after the wedding when we hit the road for Florida. Mom and I are more than just mother and daughter; she’s my best girl friend, thrifting buddy, sewing partner in crime, and lover of quiet afternoon teas. So I’m really looking forward to spending some time doing our favorite activities, catching up on all the Virginia “gossip”, and just hanging out!

As you can see, despite my excitement, I did cram a photo session in today! I love how this dress turned out, though I must admit that I don’t think the style is the most flattering to my bustline. It does nothing to enhance my already small cleavage, but I’m not going to dwell on that. lol! Isn’t it cute though?! I really feel like a princess wearing this–or Alice in Wonderland (my husband’s opinion!). I have uploaded a bunch more photos to my Flickr if you’re interested, and of course the earlier detail photos I posted can be found here I’m dying to wear it when Mom and I go to afternoon tea this week!
Must be off–I have to do a couple things before Mom gets here! I’m rather nervous: this is the first time she’ll see our little home… lol!

The dress is lovely and it really suits you!
The dress is GOOOOORGEOUS! And you look gorgeous in it, of course.
Have a lovely time with your mom, lady.
That dress is fantastic, and you look so lovely in it! Bravo!
You look so lovely!
You will shine this summer, that’s one thing for sure;)
I’m also just making summerclothes right now; it’s the only thing that keeps me happy in these extremely snowy and dull days…
It’s so lovely! I’m quite intrigued at the success of the gathered waistline. I recoil in horror from gathered waistlines for fear of looking artificially fat. You really made it work though. I think the secret may be that the gathers are only at the sides.
I know just what you mean about the cleavage. I’m in the same boat. I’ve just decided to accept it, as I refuse to represent myself as something I’m not, if you know what I mean.
Love the typewriter! Do you actually use yours? I’m considering buying some new ribbons for mine so I could use it for special projects.
That dress ia amazing!!!
yay! it’s super adorable! i think that it is quite flattering.
Such a lovely dress, and I do wish I had your sewing skills. Have fun with your mom!
The dress is gorgeous, but your hair is what *makes* the outfit. Care to divulge how you set it? Wishing you a loverly tea with your mum!
I love the dress but I can’t stop staring at the beautiful typewriter
Oh it looks amazing on you Casey! And I love the little touches in your photos – the typewriter especially.
The dress looks wonderful! I have the same problems when it comes to the bust area…lol!
How exciting that you mother is coming! I miss my Mom so much, but it May when are taking a girls only roady trip too New Orleans and Florida! So I can’t wait for that! Have fun!

What an amazing dress! I think it’s very flattering on you.
Have fun with your Mom!
I love your dress and that colour really suits you!
I wonder, would you perhaps be interested in writing a “how-to-sew-a-dress”- serie for us sewing dummies on your blog? I so want to be able to sew my own dresses, but I don’t know how!
Have a nice time with your mother:)
Oh it does look a little Alice! But lovely Alice. Wonderful job!
And I’ll trade my bust for your waistline anytime!! LMSO
Oh wow! I just commented on your last post saying that it would be great to see it… and here it is! I love how it has a bit of length, while not being dowdy at all! Jealous as usual of your mad sewing skills…
That is a picture of perfection! You’ve done a wonderful job!

Aww… it’s cute! Have fun with your mom – give her a hug for me!
Oh my! That dress is beautiful! I want one! So glad you get to spend some time with your mother. My mom is my best friend and I love when she comes to visit. Have fun!

It’s great! The color is really fantastic. I’ve been drawn to light blue lately, not really a color I usually wear. But you sure look stunning!
You look beautiful!
I think your perfect just the way you are and that dress is amazing. I still want one. My cups rather overflow so that dress probably wouldn’t even fit on top. You’re lucky!
Wow!! Such talent! Absolutely beautiful work! Just wonderful, Casey!
