inspiration week #71

Do you have any special plans for this weekend? I have to admit mine aren’t earth-shattering, but I’m starting to get super-excited nonetheless! I’m finally getting my hair cut–which I know doesn’t sound terribly momentous. But part of the reason I haven’t been taking many outfit photos or doing hairstyle tutorials since my computer got fixed is that my hair is too darn long. We’re talking past-the-middle-of-my-back long. I’ve booked an appointment and am anticipating getting my hair cut in the “Femme Fatale” style as seen in 1940s Hairstyles (a fantastic book, sadly out of print!). Something that is a combination of Rita Hayworth’s hair around the time she filmed “Gilda” and Dita von Teese’s longer style. I can’t wait to show you how it looks!

I hope I haven’t posted this image before… I can’t remember! lol. This week I’ve been starting to search for an evening gown; we have a couple of formal events in the autumn and winter, and I’m determined to find something sooner rather than later to wear. Of course, it’ll probably be vintage. So far I haven’t found anything, but I’m dreaming of a gorgeous late 30s or 40s evening gown…

I was just thinking the same: it is time I cut my hair… My ponytail is too long and the rest needs a cut too. But I haven’t made an appointment, so it will be for next week.
And thanks for the links.

I just had my hair cut, too!! (By my lovely husband who did such a good job!!) It was waist length….and I got 5 inches off! I feel ever so much lighter and, funnily enough, I can do more with it now than I could before! I’m sure you’ll look as stunning as ever in your new cut!! :)

Happy Weekending to You!!

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with Rita’s style, too. I started learning how to do pin curls and now I’m totally addicted to them.
I can’t wait to see your new hairstyle. You’re so lucky to have a salon near you that is willing to try vintage styling. I have a feeling if I asked a hairstylist where I live to give me a vintage style, they’d look at me like I was nuts and then cut my hair however they wanted. *sigh* Some people just don’t understand. :)

I need a new haircut too! I’m trying to grow it so it’ll just be a trim – nothing exciting. Can’t wait to see your new do!

What a coincidence, I’m going for a haircut this weekend too… but unlike you, I have no idea what I want yet! I love the idea of retro hairstyles but they seem kind of high-maintenance for a lazy person like me! I’m excited to see what your new style will look like!

I am also getting my hair cut in the near future! It is currently at about the middle of my back. I’ve been very into vintage hairdos lately, but I have no idea how I should get it cut! I have an appointment though so I am going to have to decide;) It would be lovely to see you’re new style. I will definitely be checking!

P.S. Lovely pictures.

I do love long hair. I think long hair has a limited life span so plan to keep mine long for as long as I possibly can. Hope the haircut goes well.

If you’re still searching for vintage gowns, you might check out the killer selection at Vintageous: http://vintageous.com/dressy.htm
You can search by bust measurement, which is soooo helpful. :)
