inspiration week #68

Thank you for your comments on my post about the wedding yesterday! We’re both so tickled with all the lovely words and well wishes!

{1950 springtime dresses}

{1950s springtime dresses}

It seems rather funny, being in a part of the world where the weather is relatively mild and sunny throughout the winter, that I would be craving springtime frocks and colors. But I am–and have been dreaming away lately of what I’d like to make or refashion for my spring wardrobe! These cute dresses from 1950 are inspiring me right now; I’m thinking fitted bodices, full skirts in crisp cottons are the way to go this year. I recently went through my pattern stash as well, and found a number of pretty little frocks that would perfectly fall into this style… Now I just have to go through and see what kind of fabric I have in the boxes!

One of the changes I’ve decided to make to this blog is combining the Vintage Monday and Inspiration Friday features into one. Enjoy!

    Those dresses are fantastic, but my eye goes right to the tiny basket-like handbag in the second ad. Adorable!

    I definitely have an affection for the daywear of the 1950s. Beautiful dresses! I love the short hairstlyes as well.

    What lovely dresses! I’ve been wanting a 1950s day dress for quite some time, and these are wonderful inspiration!

    How cute! I was instantly drawn to that brown check, but I rarely wear checks. Then I saw that wonderful green right next to it. That would probably be something I would wear. That pink one is very sweet looking, too. There’s something so nice about dresses like these.

    Oh I am craving just what you are. I’m half tempted to pull out my suitcases storing my spring dresses, but that might just be depressing.

    Thank you so much for the mention!

    These vintage ads are delicious! I was admiring the green dress with the wide collar when I noticed those fantastic maryjanes that the model is wearing. What I wouldn’t give to find a pair like that!
