10.03.08 {stripes 'n lace}

Just popping in because I wanted to show you a picture of my finished shirt refashion! I love how it came out–I’ve been wearing it for days. lol. I’m not sure if it’s the stripes, or lace, or just the fit that keep me coming back to it again and again. But it sure is a versatile piece!

Also, last week the lovely Paper Doll gave me a blog award! She has the most amazing, vintage-inspired style, and I’m just tickled to pieces that she included me. And so, I’d like to pass on the love a bit and gift these blogs with awards:

Alyson writes about a variety of design and style related topics at her blog Unruly Things, and always has the most beautiful photography to accompany many of her posts!
Kelly just started her new blog I’m Nobody Too, and she writes gorgeous, inspiring posts.
I just started reading Jennine’s blog, The Coveted, but I absolutely adore her variety of fashion-related articles!
Betsy blogs about a lot of retro-inspired fashion that just makes me swoon at From Betsy with Love!
Sally’s vintage-infushed style always inspires me at her blog Sally Jane Vintage.
I just found that Ranna writes a lovely blog, Only Shallow, in addition to her stylish Flickr photostream!

I know for awhile I didn’t do these sorts of things, and suddenly it seems like I’m doing loads of them! But I really think it’s fantastic that everyone in the blog community can have the opportunity to be generous with each other. Not to mention it gives me an excuse to post about blogs I love to read, but you may not know about! hehe! And, because I’m always curious… please feel free to comment with a link to your blog–I’d love to see it!!!

1st reaction: There’s Casey in her cute, stripey-lacey top! It would be absolutely killer with jeans; must copy . . .

2nd reaction: Oh, me! :>

You’re too kind, dear. I only wish I could include you as one of my six!

You did such a wonderful job on that shirt! And I love the idea of mixing graphic prints with vintage lace too. You’re amazing!

I love how your top came out! Is it hard to sew lace and netting and those delicate kinds of things? I’ve always wondered how people make their embellishments come out so well…

And I love discovering new blogs to read, so thanks for the links! I just started my own blog just under a month ago, and it’s really inspiring seeing all the different things people use them for!

Hello Casey, I read your blog a lot but haven’t commented until now, I wanted to say I really love your style, your inspiration fridays and your sewing projects. They are so inspiring! And I also wanted to thank you for posting about The Painted Veil. I had been meaning to see it for aaaages and never got around to it – but your post made me FINALLY get down to the video store and hire it! I’m so glad I finally watched it and I totally agree with you about the ’20s style – I was inspired to wear a ’20s style dress the next day and post about it! I mentioned you in my blog, I hope you don’t mind. I’m just really glad I found your blog. Your shirt refashion looks terrific too, I love the stripes and lace! xox

I love the shirt and the color scheme of your outfit! I looked at all the blogs you posted and I agree, they are wonderful blogs as well! Congrats on winning that blog award!

i wouldn’t have thought you DIY that piece! I have to agree, stripes are one of the easiest go to items for mix and match.

Thanks for the lovely-ness on this post. I actually feel quite strange when people say they like my style, strange but good. I’ve been meaning to ask – who takes your photo’s for you? They are always so clean and pretty :) I mostly take my own with a little bit of the BF thrown in some times – i have a few places i can balance my camera but they aren’t always the best of back rounds!!

what a glorious blog. I feel like Ive just stumbled across a vintage estate once owned by a fabulous old lady who wore pearls in the morning and orange lip stick in the evening. I will be a regular for sure. xf

Oh, that skirt kills me – such perfect shaping and detailing.
And I heartily agree that Unruly Things is one fabulous blog. Now I must check out the others…

Whenever I am having less than inspiring mornings/days, your sweet and creative posts manage to jumpstart my thoughts! I have been lurking for awhile (sorry, I am just terrible about coming up with things to write–funny because I am supposed to be writing my MA thesis…)I love the vintage images and you have such a knack for making really lovely things. I have been blogging for about a year, but your blog has inspired me numerous times!

Sal October 8, 2008 at 16:44

The shirt is PERFECTION! Especially with that kicky skirt/belt combo.

Vanda October 10, 2008 at 19:28

That is a wonderful, wonderful top!

Oh, how I covet your sewing skills *sigh*
