09.19.08 {loafers!}

Even a predominantly heel-wearing gal like me needs sensible shoes every-once-in-awhile. Lately I’ve been craving a pair of practical, classic loafers (or “penny loafers” as my mom has told me they were charmingly called!) with those wide leg slacks I’m making. (Or rather, I’ve dreamed up a whole outfit to go with the slacks and loafers; down to my hairstyle–I’m obsessed, I know!) Something bright and cheery perhaps, or even just the classic brown leather ones. The loafer/moccasin seems to be gaining popularity, and I’m all over it!

Of course, this is all inspired by my relentless browsing through old images for inspiration! Now I just have to pick which ones I really like–classic or artsy? Hmmm…

Here are some lovely links I’ve run across this week… enjoy!!!

Have a splendid weekend, my friends! I’m going home this afternoon after a fun week with my friend Jenny Rose, and have an exciting weekend planned with my mom, because today is her birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!!!!!

Well, I know I would love a pair of Friendly “Sports” in red :) ! Am I imagining or does the girl in the ad look a bit like you?

Happy birthday to your mom!! (have I ever told you that my mom loves your blog? Once she randomly started talking about you and how great your style is, and I said, what?? How do you know Casey?) :)

Oh, and bringing penny loafers back is the best idea ever. I especially like those ’40s one with a bit of a heel.

viva la flats revolution!
high heels destroyed my life…I’d soften it up…but there it is…that awful truth…

Oh yes, we Worshipers of the Heel must occasionally leave the altar for something a little flatter and chunkier. Let us know which pair you select! And I TOTALLY built outfits in my head – I actually do it most nights as I’m drifting off. Right down to hair and accessories!

Happy birthday to your Mum!! Just wanted to let you know that i loved your hair tutorial and tried it out yesterday. I just did the first part and left the back down, it looks okay, i need to get some better hairspray though because i am one of those fine haired girls you talked about so my hair didnt really get much height. But thanks for the tutorial, i will get better!!

I thought for ages I might get a pair of classic Bass loafers but found a really cute pair on Amazon of all places. Ralph Lauren, patent leather and only 25 bucks. Couldn’t resist & they’re *so* versatile.
