:: a model idea ::

09.28.08 {I'm ready for my close up}

Just a snippet of what I spent my Sunday morning up to! Kate Headley and I met up bright and early (or, not so bright; but overcast light can be so flattering!) for a few hours of roaming around taking photographs. She needed some photos for her portfolio of work, and it wasn’t hard to convince me to model my wedding gown (yes, this is the one I’ll be wearing in less than two months for the actual wedding!) and a few other vintage pieces! We had way too much fun…

So, as L. would say: here’s a few peeks at my (short lived! lol!) modeling career! (Behind the cut to keep certain prying eyes away. L., darling: this means you!!!)

{ This shot with the vintage VW Bug is hands down, my favorite photo of the day! }

She kindly sent me home with a handful of the photos so I could share them with you. Looking at all these beautiful images Kate captured has made me very excited to see how she’ll document the actual wedding in November… Anyway, I hope you all have had a lovely, fun-filled weekend!

you look so beautiful!

funnily enough, my wedding dress had a very similar silhouette and some similar details! the short sleeves, the empire line/bow at empire level. however, your dress (and you!) are far more lovely than mine was! love the addition of the colorful shoes…genius and stylish.

Love the dress! And any photos with balloons pretty much automatically make me happy.

Casey, you look gorgeous! (I’m still reading, just on Googlereader, so I’m not commenting as much as I did on LJ.)

Just wanted to say hi, and that I thought the photos were beautiful! :-)

Emily September 28, 2008 at 20:06

So beautiful! And your dress is GORGEOUS. Is it vintage?

I recently found your blog and have been enjoying it very much. The design is so lovely to look at…so old-fashioned and sweet. And you are certainly inspiring me to work on more fun vintage sewing projects! Plus the hair tutorial was lots of fun. I could go on and on, but….thank you!

Jenny-Rose September 28, 2008 at 20:12

So fabulous – your wedding pics are going to be SO awesome! :>

Kelly September 28, 2008 at 21:00

Ooh, I checked out her site and her work is amazing! It makes me wish I had gotten professional wedding pictures done… darn! I think the one of you and the balloons are my favourite.. so childlike and yet.. you’re in a wedding dress! Beautiful.

Marie September 28, 2008 at 22:41

Oh my goodness! You look wonderful! I’m excited to see how your actual wedding photos will turn out too since these ones are really quite delightful. I love the colours and the feel of the photos.

Josephine September 28, 2008 at 22:51

Oh wow, that is just so so beautiful, you must be so excited! I particularly love the shot of you running with the balloons. I have been following your blog for a little while now and I really do enjoy it. I find it really inspirational with all the links you provide to different sites of interests and your tales of sewing and vintage adventures. Thanks so much!

Jen September 28, 2008 at 23:41

Tanya September 29, 2008 at 01:07

Your dress looks absolutely beautiful! And I love the photo of you running with the balloons!

Caf September 29, 2008 at 02:04

simply fabulous shoot! Methinks you are going to have some pretty amazing wedding photos!

Thanks so much for the music recommendations! You’re right, a compilation is a good place to start…it’s the first thing I’m picking up on my next CD shop :D

lsaspacey September 29, 2008 at 02:27

The shot with the balloons made me think of the movie Funny Face, not because the shot is identical but because it seems to capture that era and has a very Richard Avedon feel. Fred Astaire’s character and photography was based on Vogue photog Avedon’s work. You are going to make a gorgeous bride!

Christina September 29, 2008 at 07:08

Beautiful pictures! I love your dress!

Leah September 29, 2008 at 07:15

Oh you look lovely! And the photos – just wow.

Your dress is wonderful may I add (I’m not a wedding person really, but I have been delving into the zone of wedding attire recently for my textiles project at school – most of the dresses are frightfully expensive & tend to be strapless numbers.)

Carrie September 29, 2008 at 08:33

Beatiful dress. You look gorgeous in it.

Also, has the Sunday Herald mag come in the post yet?

Let me know if it hasn’t and I’ll send through another.

gorgeous. I do like the VW shot, but the different expression in the balloon long shot is really something.

Sal September 29, 2008 at 09:42

AAAAHHHH!! You are STUNNING! Oh, and the dress is beyond perfect – well done, C. Will your actual flowers be like the bouquet in the photos?

mj September 29, 2008 at 09:47

The one that shoes your shoes is totally my favorite!

Angelique September 29, 2008 at 09:49

Oh wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a perfect wedding dress. And the shoes are the best little detail of whimsy (will you be wearing them at your wedding too?) I’ve been admiring Kate’s pictures on Flickr for some time, but I think these are my favorites!

Have a happy Monday :)

Heather September 29, 2008 at 11:18
