:: fireflies + martinis ::

Thank you all for your lovely comments about my Friday post with my new dress! I’m just so tickled by your sweet words!

I’ve lately been on a jazz kick. I downloaded some new music from iTunes over the weekend to flesh out my still-meager collection of 1920s and early 1930s jazz (I tend to have a lot more of the 1940s and ’50s stuff). I’ve put together a little playlist that has been on constant replay on my iPod… I’ve also uploaded a “mini” version on my Muxtape… I hope y’all will enjoy listening to it!

I finally had some time to scan and touch-up a few pages from my collection of Seventeen magazines. So in keeping with the vintage theme of the playlist, here is a bit of a Vintage Monday treat–I whole gaggle of images!

06.30.08 {vintage monday | one} 06.30.08 {vintage monday | two}

06.30.08 {vintage monday | three} 06.30.08 {vintage monday | six}

06.30.08 {vintage monday | four} 06.30.08 {vintage monday | five}

I hope you are inspired… I’m just loving the sweet, summery frocks and details! *drool* Have a lovely Monday, my friends!!

This is the only link you’ll ever need for 20s/30s jazz.

I’ve really been getting into 40s fashion again lately. Pin-curling my hair frequently etc. I adore the pinafore frocks, and I’ve got a pattern very similar to the one on the right in the last picture but it’s not in my size and I don’t know how to size up, eep.

You should check out Janet Klein and her Parlor Boys. They are a contemporary band that creates 30s music, it’s fabulous!

How funny – When I began reading your post, I was in the middle of listening to Ella and Louis singing Gershwin! That’s a favorite era of mine, too – complete with Benny Goodman, Berlin, and the Andrews Sisters. Incidentally, have you ever listened to the Puppini Sisters? I think you’d enjoy them!
